User-Friendly Camera

I use the Rebel 2000 quite a bit, mostly for family get togethers and birthday parties. It is great for this use be cause it is small, light, (I am used to my EOS-1N) and has a built in flash. I can run around with this thing around my neck all day and not feel tired. When in "green mode" (full auto) the camera will select the correct focus points automatically and in "program mode" it will allow you to select one of the seven focus points manually if you wish. When you are ready to venture away from full auto, it offers, aperture priority, shutter priority, full manual and other shooting modes. Also the camera has a "prewind" system. When film is loaded into the camera it is wound up onto the take-up spool and is fed back into the cartridge as pictures are taken. This is a great safety feature in case the camera back is opened accidentally. This is a great camera for some one starting out in SLR photography and wants to take some time to learn more about it.Read full review...

Good reliable 35mm SLR

As the popularity of film declines this camera remains a solid choice for students wanting to learn a SLR style camera, or those wishing to step up from a point and shoot 35mm. Right now, it cost more to buy the batteries than this camera costs. The auto focus is very accurate, the LCD display is very easy to read and user friendly. Manuals for this camera are available on the canon website. This model has most of all the modern features such as shutter or aperature priority, program mode, full manual control. This camera also features the semi-auto modes such as portrait, sports, landscape, and night shot. Just an FYI, this camera only accepts the EF lenses and not the newer EF-S(digital) lenses.Read full review...

Cannon Rebel II

I got this camera as a gift in 2005 for Valentines Day and I couldn't have been happier. I had very little experience with SLR Cameras....(watching my mom snap pics when I was younger...) so this was really fun learning. I ended up taking a course at the local college, which really helped to lear all of the manual options. This is a great starter camera, and it really helped me develope my photography skills and showed me another way to express myself creativly. When We first bought it, we (my boyfriend) paid $295.00 for the camera and almost another $100.00 for a 18-55mm lens and some other accessories.....now, this would cost alot less, so always buy used. I would LOVE to update to the Digital SLR version of this, but I can't afford it right now. If someone is looking to upgrade to digital, look at expresscameras.com. I HAVE NEVER purchased anything from them, so it is just a guide to check out prices for digital slr's.
If you are considering this camera for a early teen, I would wait until they're a little older- 16-17 yrs. You can get all the special effects lens additions for pretty cheap online....it is also nice to use e6 slide film, which you view using an overhead projector....you can get a pretty nice used projector on ebay for about 20.oo which includes s/h! its a nice hobby, but the film can get a little pricey when you have to add the developing costs in as well. it is fun, but it is starting to feel like "dead technology" when compared to the digital version. If you are looking for a cheap, short term hobby, pick something else.....if this is something that you want to take up to snap a few quick pics here and there, buy a digital camera....

Great compliment to my digital Rebel!

I bought this slr body to compliment my digital rebel, which it is perfect for. It's feature set is sufficient for a secndary camera, which for most, this will be. Just know that yur ef-s lenses will not work with this camera!!! I had to replace my digital rebel's kit lens(which I wanted to do anyway) in order to use this camera. It is very lightweight and takes great pictures!!!Read full review...

The CANON EOS REBEL 2000 Takes The Cake On 35mm Cameras

First of all, if you're reading reviews as part of your research, prior to buying a camera, you're doing the right thing. Your camera, in this case the Canon EOS Rebel 2000, will be with you for many years to come. The technology in the Canon camera isn't anything like the "Digital Camera World", where you can't seem to keep up with the best quality camera and with the most features.

The Canon EOS Rebel 2000 is a solid, stable and absolutely reliable camera. If you take good care of it, you'll be able to have it all of your life and it's hard to say that, with any confidence, about any product. I have owned many, many cameras and I've found the Rebel 2000 to be the best in its class of 35mm auto-focus cameras. The 28-80mm Lens is sturdy and made of very high quality optics-for the absolute best and most reliable focusing and photo taking. You may, at some point, wish to have an additional lens for a great zoom range. I have a Canon Lens that is 75-300mm, also an auto-focus lens like the 28-80mm lens, and I use it for sports photography and some portrait work.

Having a Canon EOS Rebel 2000 is similar to having a car that is proven, reliable and a true value for what you're paying for. Canon offers many settings on the camera which allow anyone to act a a true professional photographer, however Canon's automatic setting has proven to be just as good as the thousands of photos that I have taken in a regular mode-where I make several adjustments to aperture, etc. It's so easy to just turn the camera on, move the dial to the GREEN SQUARE, and begin to take some of the best photos you've ever taken. I honestly have never had a situation where I used the GREEN BOX (automatic settings) and had a photo that turned out wrong. The only time I've ever had a problem is when I've taken it OFF that mode and into a manual mode-something I now try to avoid!

I honestly believe that you're getting an incredible value when purchasing the Canon EOS Series Cameras. If you're buying new, you'll not have ANY problems to worry about with your purchase. If you're buying used, make sure you ask about the history of the camera and don't be afraid to ask the seller why the camera is being sold. It's helpful if you buy from a seller that has kept all of the literature that originally came with the camera, along with the instruction booklets, warranties, etc. If the lens is not scratched and the camera has been kept in good condition, you're likely to be buying a very dependable camera. It's a great "bang for your buck" when it comes to 35mm SLR Cameras. The 2000 has some additional features that differentiate it from other Rebel Series models, however Canon knows when it has a good product and the 2000 is an excellent example.

I hope that my review has helped you. I wrote it so that it might help you in making a decision, as I know it can be very hard sometimes. I'm a person that always does Consumer Reports reviews on products before buying them and hope that this short review will fill some gap you may have had.

Good Luck To You! Thanks for taking the time to read my review.

Awesome Canon film SLR for cheap

I love this camera. I have an extensive Canon EF lens collection, so I have a ton of options for shooting with Rebel cameras. I got my first Rebel about a year ago and put it through heavy use before the shutter died. No problem. Spend $25 and get another. Actually, I have several now. This is the most lightweight Canon film SLR I've ever used. And it has a great grip. Some of the other Rebel models from the end-of-film era had curved grips that were not easy to hold for long periods of time. The Rebel 2000 has the best auto-focus system of the pre-digital Rebels. The metering system is reliable. I often use the multiple-exposure feature. The auto film-advance system is a bit noisy so you won't be able to take discreet street shots. Otherwise, you can't go wrong. Load film and go.Read full review...

CANON EOS REBEL FOR STARTERS AND PRO'S

The Canon EOS Rebel 2000 has the widest range of settings available in the 35mm line of cameras, but it will take time to "master" everything it offers such as shooting pictures at night or landscapes, but a MUST to have on any camera are a good set of filters especially a UV filter which helps protect your lens and also cut's glare.
If you don't mind waiting on the film to be developed you will find that this is really better than digital, excluding digital pro cameras which cost $1500.00 and up!!
You need to start with full automatic and enjoy shooting anything from marco to infinity, it IS very easy to use and in no time you will be shooting like a pro!!
If you have found this information helpful in my review, PLEASE rate it with a yes vote below and THANKS!!

Canon EOS Rebel 2000 with 28-80 lens 35mm Film Camera

I realize that most people want digital camera's and I am one of those people because of the convenience and the easy uploads to your computer. The reason I purchased the Canon rebel(film camera) is because my brother-in-law had one of these camera's , he never used it, so I took it over for a few months to just see what the fuss was all about with all the good things I had heard about Canon camera's. I have never taken such great pictures in my life with any other camera. I was blown away with the clarity of the pictures. Every picture is good, very few that was thrown away. I have been using a digital camera for years, (Sony and Canon)..good camera's, but do not measure up to the film Canon Rebel. Digital camera's are really good for outdoors and that is what I mainly use mine for or if I need a picture right away, but for pictures that I want to be really good and can depend on..I use the film Canon Rebel. I have never had the real expensive digitals, they may be different, but for the money , I am completely satisfied with the film Canon rebel.Read full review...
