Video Games

Ever wanted to be a soldier, a baker, a plumber, a puzzle-master, a foreign spy, all from the comfort of your own home? Video games let you dive into a fantastic reality. They've captivated the hearts and souls of people all over the world for decades, from their humble beginnings in two dimensions all the way to the virtual reality games of today's technologies. Whether you want to kick it retro with a classic like Super Mario Bros. Or would prefer to play one of the latest first-person shooters? There's a video game (and a corresponding system) out there that's perfect for you.

From Humble Beginnings

The first video game premiered in 1971 when two paddles decided it was time to enter into a competition that would change the technological landscape of the next several decades. This was, of course, Pong, and it paved the way for generations of game designers to increasingly push the technology of video games further and further. The Atari craze was soon usurped by the Nintendo Entertainment System craze, followed by Sony and Microsoft also stepping onto the scene with the PlayStation and the Xbox, respectively.

Todays Games

The three giants of gaming, Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft, have been continually advancing their own systems, introducing new technologies as the systems improve, like better graphics, motion-detection technology, online interactivity, and even virtual reality. There are also a host of handheld consoles available that allow you to play your favorite games on the go.

Bringing People Together

Video games aren't just for solo enjoyment. Game systems today strive harder and harder to get you interacting with others. Whether you are having a head-to-head battle to see which of your friends is king of Super Smash Bros., or are playing online against thousands of people to see who can get the highest rank, video games are bringing people together like never before. So choose your console, pick your games, call up some friends, and let the games begin.
