LGA775 CPU
Worked just fine in my x64 computer. It allows for more than 2 gb ram sticks also. Previously, my Vista motherboard only supported 2 gb max. My motherboard was set up as an x32, 1.8 ghz system. Now it's an x64, 3.4 ghz computer. Thanks.Read full review

Surprised
Was disappointed when I found out the pentium d was the best I could put in my old optiplex but along with 4g ram, cooling mods its actually great for my needs. (Surfing, Android mods, Adb, Roms, ect..)Read full review

Upgrades can be problematic, celan power contacts
Aw nuts, it failed, again and again.
Finally, I figured out that as the computer is about 10 years old, the power connector contacts are not as clean as they had been when new. When pushing the heatsink retainers back into the motherboard, it flexed and this jarred the power connector loose.
As the 3.4 GHz cpu draws more current through the connector that the earlier Celeron at 2.0 GHz, the now dirty contact was not up to supplying a steady supply of voltage and the 3.3 VDC was dropping below spec as the CPU worked harder. This drop in voltae resulted in crashes.
The solution was to remove the power connector and use a Contact Cleaner on the power connector and then re-insert the connector about five times. This cleans the contacts, the voltage is stable and the new/old cpu, 3.4 GHz works perfectly.
