Extremely satisfied

This processor is one of my favorites for the 1st generation i7 chipsets. Works extremely well and I have had no problems since I gotten it.

Pros:
Is unlocked
Runs @ 2ghz (3.2ghz turbo)r>8 mb cache & 4 cores
Better performance per dollar (compared to 940xm)

Cons:
55w
Gets hot fast (compared to a i7 840qm and below)

I personally love this CPU it is by far my favorite 1st generation i7 cpu. Its less expensive then the 940xm with similar performance, but does more then a 840qm.
The only thing you have to make sure with the XM series i7's is that they are properly cooled and that they have enough power and you should be good.

Love it :DRead full review...

The best processor for the money if you don't want to upgrade to SB

This processor is blazing fast. The key thing to remember though is that it is a 55 watt processor. An average laptop won't have the cooling to properly cool this processor. When properly cooled and coupled with at least 4 gigs of ram, it flies. With a program called throttle-stop you can increase the TDP of the processor to allow you to overclock it much higher as well. I have it running at 3.4 ghz on all cores when I run intensive applications. This is speed on par or exceeding most desktop i7s. It outperforms them in benchmarks as well. For me, for a mobile processor that outperforms most desktop processors, it's totally worth the cost. In addition, when overclocked it's also faster than the new sandy bridge i7s. The only downside is the power consumption and heat. When overclocked to 3.4, with the TDP at 90, you can easily see temps of 90 even on a big laptop with good cooling.Read full review...

I am still in shock!!!

Even if this processor is ES, I cannot believe the performance and excellent standard idle temperature.

It is at 40 degrees Celsius in idle mode. My i7 720QM was somewhere between 46-47. And when you need the power, without even overclocking it, BOOM!!! All the clocks 'wake' up and give you full satisfaction.

I cannot even compare it with the majority of the desktops built in 2010.

Great product! I recommend everyone who has a moderboard supporting it, buy it! It is a good upgrade for your notebook. Shirley was a wonderfull suport to me as well, always responding, following up and even concern until the product reached into my hands. Thank you!

Good CPU for use with external video card.

I purchased this for a Vostro all-in-one, and unfortunately (my mistake) this particular CPU does not include built-in video. Booted fine, but no picture! I am unable to use it in my particular case.Read full review...

Intel 920XM is the best performance choice!

The Intel Core i7 is the best family of cpu processors today. Intel around the world have been owned the performance cpus, I'm from Brazil and here or any other place, the core i7 mobile for laptops smoke other cpus.
This Intel 920XM within the 940XM are really very fast, and have turbo boost in all four cores according TDP and TDC settings. With some programs it's possible unlock all multipliers and have total control of this cpu.
I liked so much to use this processor reliable and fast. Within you will need a good charger and need more power, the temp was around 80°C and with a good cooler solution have no problem.
Finally, in sure with this cpu you will feel your computer really fast and will have a great response.

Do not believe HP!!!

I installed a I7-920 extreme In my DV8-1100 Pavilion laptop and 16 GB of memory. All of which they said would not work === B.S. I have a 7 yr old laptop that is now faster that before... It plays all the games and software increases the speed.Read full review...

Great CPU

Installed on Lenovo W510. Good thermal grease and superclean fan / radiator is required - this baby gives a lot of hot (90 C degrees). Easy to install if you have manual skills. If you don't - leave installation to more experienced people.Read full review...

i7 920XM = The ultimate in mobile processing power.

The i7 920XM is a beast of a processor. It can handle very high overclocks and runs cool as a cucumber when set up right. It will punish pretty much any task that you set it to and help you climb to the top of the benchmarking ladder with ease. I highly recommend this CPU if you are looking to upgrade. Having it run at 3.3GHz on all 4 cores is a piece of cake when paired with ThrottleStop.

Do yourself a favour and treat yourself to the almighty power of the i7 920XM. You won't regret it!

Performance and value; breathe new life into your system with an upgrade!

I upgraded the processor in my Acer Aspire 8942g from the Intel Core i3 with Core i7. I had not upgraded a CPU before, so it was nerve-wracking, but ultimately very rewarding.

I have NOT had any problems with excess noise or fan/heating issues. Installation was a bit of a challenge, but the issues I had with installation were related to my lack of experience with this kind of upgrade and the make and model of my laptop; not the Core 17 920XMRead full review...
