Inherent defects

Phone is great, if not the greatest, you can read about it in other reviews. I will concentrate on problems.
There are to inherent defects to this phone:
1) With time soldering to processor fails and phone starts to overheat and reboot itself. It all ends with nonoperational phone that hangs up before it has time to reboot. Do not know about States, but in Russia where I am from this problem can be solved in service centers for about 140$. Guys remove compound covering processor and re-solder the processor. Problem does not appear again after that.
You can extend life time of the phone by avoiding its overheating. Watch its temperature, do not play much with different ROMS, especially with androids as they can overload processor (some of them even try to increase processor frequency), do not run GPS applications in car holders under direct sun for a long time etc.
- The red button hits touch screen ribbon every time it is pushed. Eventually it results in loss of a contact and touch screen stops to work. First it happens from time to time but finally touch will die. Replacement of the touch screen is ~ 90$ in Russia, including parts.
You may install soft power button and wake up the phone with any but red button. It will help you to avoid this problem completely.

The phone is very complicated from inside. If you do not have experience just do not disassemble it. Otherwise you will end up with torn ribbons and cracked screen.

Strange...

I recieved the the devices pretty fast (the second day of the estimated interval of delivery), The condition of the device and the accesories are new as in the description, but the package and the accesories are not the original ones for the HD2, more like ONE X (case), and ONE M8 (charger, headphones) accesories. The device itself works good, and looks new, however in the details something is wrong with it. The polished edges around the camera are not like the original, its a bit rough in quality, definitely not normal/original and the battery cover fits not very well, but that's acceptible.Read full review...

The best cell phone as I know

I must say that the HTC HD2 is amazing. Fashional, functional, and more. It can do almost everything you can imagine. I really like the iGo8 part since I can drive anywhere with it. However, the battery is poor and has short life especially when I use Wi-Fi. The touch screen is quite sensitive. But sometimes it's freezing and has no response. I don't know whether other peple get the same situation as me. Well, it doesn't hurt. I like my cell phone so far. It earned me a lot of praise from my friends.Read full review...

End of Life - HTC HD2 T8585 and WinMo 6.5 - 3G doesn't works for US

This review is specifically for T8585 model and not T9193 or the T-mobile version. Although they are same, just the 3G bands totally differ on all 3 and some cosmetic changes and branding.

While this was a great phone in 2010 when it was launched but the future seems bleak now.
Please google "Windows Mobile July 15"
Windows mobile 6.5 has reached end of its life, would no longer be supported by Microsoft, and no new apps would be allowed to be developed, in fact the app marketplace is going to get shut down by July 15, 2012, so you won't even be able to buy apps.

Pros:
1) Nice bar phone, which looked similar to IPhone 3G and worked similar with HTC Sense app.
2) Windows Phone 6.5 was quite stable as it had gone through many releases.
3) This phone has 1GHz processor, but not dual-core, good for a 2010 phone, but not great per today's new generation phones.

Cons:
********US BUYERS BEWARE**********
1) HTC HD2 differs with the model number on its usage with different GSM provider for 3G internet services.
If you are in US, please DO NOT BUY T8585 as it does *NOT* supports 3G for AT&T and not even for T-Mobile.
a)If you want to use it in US with T-Mobile, buy the T-Mobile HD2
b)If you want to use it in US with AT&T, buy the HTC T9193, Telstra model.
If you are in Europe, or going to use it outside US then it may make sense to check the 3G service frequencies before you make this purchase.
I came to know this hard way after buying the phone, I had no way to use it on 3G network.
It works for calling, but the 3G internet service, data service are not supported for US. I don't think anyone would buy this smart phone and not use it for internet, so it doesn't makes sense shelling out on this model, if you are in USA.

2) PLEASE NOTE - the days of this phone are numbered now, newer version of android are device specific and are no longer open source, so you will not be able to flash this phone to an android.
3) There have been successful flashes, but a lot many times, people ended up bricking their phones.
4) After Android flashing, there have been lot of issues with call drops and connection dropping, those who have successfully flashed theirs still have issues, so it is really not a fully functional android device, and you will end up spending a lot of your time figuring out how to rid of those problems, and many are still not fully resolved.
5) Too costly on price value point at this time, no worth left after mid of this year, 2012.

I would not recommend a windows 7 phone, as the marketplace is almost non-existent, I guess we are now just left with 2 new platforms to focus on Android and Iphone. RIP - HTC HD2 and Windows 6.5. Both reach end of their life this year mid of 2012.

Not sure if you are able to see this link, here it is for your reference.

The HTC HD2 was not worth buying

I purchased this product from tmobile hoping to get the best they offer. It was the newest and most expensive phone they had to offer, so i figured it was the best. Boy was i wrong. Biggest issue is the fact that it was a windows phone. Window has horrible apps that a second grader can make. And sense the phone runs on windows, that pretty much rewined the phone. Another problem for me was texting. When ever i receive 2 texts at the same time or rite after one another the phone would just freeze. The only way to unfreeze it as taking the battery out and that pissed me off because it took like 5 miutes just to turn back on. Another thing about texting was that i couldnt receive any pictures in text messege. The phones camera on the other hand is great. I really enjoyed using that. over all the phone wasnt so great.Read full review...

The best Windows Mobile experience yet!

I love the phone overall, it's quick and has had hardly any problems for the last 12 hours I have played with it. The only hiccup I have had with it is not the phone's fault but rather my computers. It took me a while to get Windows Mobile Device Center to recognize the phone, but with a update it was flawless. The animated weather background is pretty eye candy but also very useful! The home screen has a very nice design with HTC's Sense. With the 1GHZ processor everything runs smoothly, I have experienced zero lag or crash. The WVGA display with the 4.3" screen gives you a lot of room for your fingers and the on-screen keyboard (I love the Swype keyboard included!).

The camera is probably my only disappointment, it is average, but then again it is only 5MP and that seems like a century ago since I had used a 5MP digital camera, but for outdoor pictures it marvels in! Indoors even with flash not so much, it has a yellow tint in the pictures which makes the pictures look disgusting though they are clear!

I know a lot of people dislike Windows Mobile phones and would rather use Android or the iPhone, I once was one of those people because my previous WinMo phones had severe issues, but with the phones speed and just overall interface it's almost like not using WinMo. I am a fan now! The HD2 makes the experience come to life.

I love the social integrations with Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. I am a big Twitter user so the Twitter comes in plenty of handy, with being able to update the status from the tab! Facebook's integration is REALLY useful for contacts, it saves you time from taking pictures of your friends and assigning them to contacts, if your like me and just about all of your friends are on Facebook, this will save you a lot of time. Once the Facebook account is linked to a specific contact it will then download the profile picture and even a little more information! As well it will give you a link to your friends online albums on Facebook right from the contact card. Lastly, it will even show you your friends latest Facebook update on the Updates/Events tab in your friends contact card. As far as YouTube goes that is self explanatory, it allows you to upload videos directly from the phone to your YouTube channel.

I know I didn't cover EVERYTHING, but this was the most mentionable and most important to me as I am not a business person and do not do the whole exchange thing, etc.

All and all I would recommend this phone to anyone that wants a great Windows Mobile 6.5 experience with HTC's flare!

The best Windows mobile based phone.

Let me start by saying that the people that compare this phone to the Apple Iphone shouldn't do it. This phone has nothing to do with the apple and it is so much different that it can be hardly compared to it.
I find this cell phone to be very nice, it has a superb screen that can't be compared to any one out there, it is just stunning. The Touch feature is very good, even if not perfect, I think it is much much better than the old HD. The phone is designed to be used in a very basic way with most of the features with easy access. You can also access all the programs throught the start menu but it is a bit more confusing.
If you are looking for a fun game frendly phone, I would suggest you better buy the iphone since it has much more games and aplications at the moment than this one.
This is more dedicated to a market of people that want a more serius and professional phone.
What does it offer: Well EVERY single thing you might want on your phone. It has a very good 5mp camera, a decent video recording capability, a superb screen, vary good sound in music reproduction.
As phore the phone itself it misses the voice dailing feature, but it can be added by a 3rd party program.
I am very happy with the phone and wouldn't change it for any other phone or model out there in this precise moment. Apple tents me with tons of applications but the phone is way inferior.

A great phone! (only a bit big if you are not used to..)

its a great phone! a bit big if you are not used to big screens but user friendly and a great phone overall!with medium use the battery last more than i thought it would (at least 2 days) and the features of this phone will be more than enough even for a tech freak (like me...).i espesially like the metalic battery door which gives the phone character. the camera is exceptional (5 MP) and the flash really lights up a room and you can use it as a flashlight. i think it runs better when you have Android but that depends on the user..if you want everything from a regular phone to a high end computer this is the phone for you!Read full review...

A little bit disappointed.. (In french)

Ideal Smartphone

The HD2 is perfect for the individual who makes MS Outlook their main contact manager and calendar. The touch interface on the HD2 is easy to use. There is a fair amount of free down-loadable apps from the internet. The call quality is very clear. The contacts interface with Facebook apps downloading profile pictures to your device that show up next to the names in your address book. I have only had this device needing to be restarted once. I do use the task list to kill apps running in the background. I turned off all the data download via cell provider to avoid extra fees, and the wifi works wonderful. I really can't think of anything that I don't like about this device. I keep discovering new features that delight me.Read full review...
