A sharp and useful lens. Its a keeper!

This lens is sharp in the full zoom range from 70-300mm. Tested it using maximum aperture 70, 100, 200 and 300mm. Of course is very sharp at f5.6-f8. I like that it is not too heavy or bulky. Works well with Canon RP + EF-RF adapter. Canon T2i, Canon 1DS Mk II. Image stabilisation in the lens work well and increases the sharp picture rate. Overall a very good lens.Read full review...

Better than expected for a cheap zoom lens

Canon USM nano 70-300 zoom is a great lens for the price, especially when you get it open box or used, I'm impressed with this lens zooming in and getting that nice Bokeh effect, pretty sharp intact photo's and video's, and to me it's not too heavy for the size, and using this with the canon 90d is a great combination... now I have a great zoom lens for animals , people and some close up sports shots... I use mostly manual settings on video and pics, but putting this in automatic mode, gives you beautiful visuals right out of camera and using a great lens without breaking the bank makes a huge difference... I recommend this lens for most occasions.Read full review...

My favorite lens!

I had the original 70-300mm and it was soft wide open and at 300mm and the af was VERY slow. I DID get some wonderful shot with it though but this lens corrects all the issues of it's predecessor. I find it tack sharp at all focal lengths and even wide open. The af is lightning fast and VERY accurate. I use it for wildlife and have had great success even with birds on the wing. I could not be happier and would highly recommend this lens to anyone.Read full review...

Great value for a non-L lens.

A very good lens for sports photography. Using it on my APS-C bodies, I have a 480mm maximum focal length. The lens is sharp and substantial (and only 1/3 the price of its L series equivalent. Arrived in great shape with USA warranty card from Canon. It gets a little heavy after about an hour of shooting but produces great images.Read full review...

Noticeable improvement over the original version

Bought this as a replacement for my original 70-300 which stopped focusing and developed some lens fungus after many, many years of faithful service. Thought this would just be a replacement but it's a noticeable improvement - much, much faster and incredibly quiet autofocus and the image stabilization is good for more stops than the old version (can't say how many, exactly, but it's just better). A great grab and go lens with excellent image quality and great performance. Very happy.Read full review...

Good lens for the money

I am quite pleased with this lens. It is easy to handle, not too heavy. Images are sharp at both long and short ends and in the middle of focal. Stabilizer works great so I can take reasonable images at 1/10 of sec at long end. Operation manual is little too confusing for me.Read full review...

Super lens

I own 3 Canon L lenses and I have added this 70-300 to my arsenal. I bought this mainly for my wife who needed a long lens but didn't want the weight. This lens is a no brainer even though it is not an L lens. Light, sturdy, sharp and all around great. I really like the IS and the Nano auto focus. The lens auto focuses very fast and quiet. I used to have the 75-300 usm with no IS and it was what I considered junk. You will not be sorry for buying this lens.Read full review...

Fine FF Lens

This lens was received in near new condition. After testing everything works perfect. The price was excellent compared to a new lens. The lens has very fast focusing and using it on a Canon 80D pictures are pin sharp. I recommend this lens if you are looking for a Canon 70 - 300.Read full review...

Nice lens for the non-professional

Took a few uses to get accustomed to the digital zoom & electronics. Nice lens for the budget minded, non-professional, photographer. Nice lens for my needs. Nice range of focal length.

Very Good Quality/Performance For Entry Level Lens

I'm just a newbie to digital photography but have had a chance to try several lenses and have seen the good and bad. This lens is the best bang for the buck you will find in an entry level telescopic lens at the 300mm range. The newer IS tech sets this lens apart from other entry level lenses like Tamron AF 70-300mm f/4.0-5.6 SP Di VC USD which I purchased and returned. The IS is far better on the Cannon, not even close. The Cannon's clarity was better than what I expected giving me really clear pics when shooting mid distant Eagles and other birds which is what I bought it for. The Tamron was borderline terrible in my opinion. I purchased a Canon EF 100-300mm f/4.5-5.6 USM when I purchased my camera and has been my primary lens for birds. I thought it had good quality clarity but I longed for IS when making the mid to long range shots. I expected the old and new Cannon's to be similar in clarity but I'm pleasantly surprised that the new lens is much better. So, if your looking for an entry level 300mm you won't be sorry with the Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS II USM.Read full review...
