Sounds very good, easy to use
Purchased after 10+ year old model went belly up. Newer model is much nicer looking, and sounds great. Added feature is a weather channel. Time set button is on right side, so it took a few minutes to find it to set the clock. . Remote was not included, but not needed by "she who must be obeyed." . These Sony under the cabinet radio / cd players are great.
I have this model and the ICF-543RM model and the only thing that lacks on this ICF-553RM model
is the Mega Bass is not as pronounced as the ICF-543RM model, don't know why, they are
equipped with all the same features, the ICF-543RM just sounds better in Mega Bass.
Either way these are a convenient way to add music. news, and weather reporting with ease.

The ICF-CD553RM SONY under kitchen-cabinet CD player has all the options to make a more enjoyable place to do chores. It's well-built, too. Great improvements!
We had the ICF-CDK50 in our kitchen for about 4 years before it died - the tuner quit tuning! Although we were quite pleased with the CDK50, this unit is a much better product. It includes a weather band and even has a TV band. The TV band isn't much use anymore since most stations aren't broadcast on the same channels as before. The sensitivity of the radio is comparable to that of the CDK50 and I like the easier-to-use controls. The unit is larger that the CDK50. The depth is such that the back needs to butt up against the wall under the cabinet so that the front doesn't stick out too far. Doesn't leave much room for lights under the cabinet. Cord storage in the back doesn't interfere with mounting.Read full review...
