Surprisingly Very Good!

Let start by saying that this was purchased for my shed connected to a pair of old AR18s.. but out of curiosity I wanted to see how it would perform against my home system.

Connected to a ‘spare’ set of vintage Ruark Talisman II speakers and fed by a Dragonfly Red DAC connected to my phone, the initial sound was disappointing to say the least. It was harsh, the top end sounded tinny and frizzy at the edges. Very unpleasant.

But.... the amp doesn’t ship with a psu and I was using a suspect old 12v wall wart which wasn’t helping. So to be fair I then swapped it out for an iFi 12v psu which I use on a DAC. It immediately sounded less harsh and much more together so I went out and left it playing for 4 hours to see if it needed more time. Yes it did.

When I came back I was astounded at the transformation. I have now connected it to another set of speakers (Rogers Studio 1s) and ‘sound per pound’ this little amp is remarkable. It’s not perfect but considering its price (less than £20) and despite the not-so-ideal characteristics of budget Class D amplification, it makes for an excellent single source starter system. It really is that good.

I will be experimenting with other psu’s to see if this is critical for a decent sound. It may simply need to be powered up for a few days to sound good.

In Sum, Cannot Really Recommend This Product.

POWER: If this is a 50w per channel amp then Donald Duck is Mickey Mouse in disguise. Very underpowered even though being fed from a tube pre-amp at maximum output. Driving PolkAudio TSi100 speakers ( 2 ) in series as a center channel speaker.

SOUND: The tube (GE matched tubes) pre-amp, of course, enhanced (changed?) the quality of the output. So, unable to rate unit sound other than to note unit does respond favorably to tube pre-amplification.

In sum, cannot really recommend this product.

Great Little Power amp.

Great little digital (PWM) Audio Power amp. Lots of punch, low distortion and transparent sound However to get the best out of these amps they MUST be used with a high quality, low noise power supply capable of delivering the full output current at the selected voltage and load. ( I Recommend 24 volt at 4 amps minimum). "Wall wart" types are not recommended (typically noisy). I have a number of these amps driving high quality, close-field studio monitors (some bi-amped, some tri-amped) and as along time, highly discerning audio professional I am very pleased with the results.Read full review...

Get this tiny giant

This little Class D amp is an excellent performer. I'm running it with an 18.5V 3.5A power supply I repurposed from an old Hewlett Packard something-or-other. It easily powers my Mission bookshelf and Rega floor speakers. It's small, weighs next to nothing and sounds unexpectedly great. I'm very impressed!Read full review...

Size matters

Good little amp for the price. No gimmick, just a volume knob, exactly what is needed when fed from a computer. Takes no space at all. I use it with 2 Yamaha speakers, as secondary sound system for my music production workstation. After 3 weeks, so far so good.Read full review...

Good Sound, attractive package, good price

Good quality rating is based on sound and look, only concerning thing is it sparks every time you plug/unplug the power supply cord into the unit, and the LED power indicator never turns off, goes from bright to dim to indicate on/off. Might be designed that way I suppose to indicate power present, and unit on/off...

Sounds better than expected and works well other that the above mentioned concerns.

Great one. No noise at all. Power needs 2.5x5.5 connector.

Red light always on. When amp is on its just brighter.
Power connector is 2.5x5.5mm had to replace my 1.5x5.5 connector on power supply unit.

Good quality and performance, gets my recommendation

This is a very well made product. It lacks bluetooth but the price is right. Good quality material. As for performance, with a 19V/4.3A laptop adapter with a common 2.5/5.5 barrel it is able to drive 4Ω speakers very easily with just 1/4 of the volume turned on. No hissing or other noises whilst in stanbay ir playback.Read full review...

Great value!

Amazing little amp. I needed a second system in my studio and this was totally right. Combine it with Topping D10 a Rp with Volumio and a pair of old Proac Response 1s or similar good quality speakers. Hard to beat! I use a laptop brick 19v 4.7 (90watt) amp no problem. If a 24v adapter will be better, I really wonder...Read full review...

excellent

it works great. I use it as a second amplifier.
To ! burn ! new cables ( if need be ).
I was surprised how well it perfomed.
Buy the high end power device 24V instead of the 19V ..
it really makes a difference.Read full review...
