FAQs
How do I purchase ShipCover?
- Go to Orders in My eBay or your Orders Awaiting Shipment in Seller Hub.
- Choose the item you’d like to ship and select “Print shipping label.”
- In the Additional Options section, select “Additional liability coverage.”
- Select ShipCover Insurance and, if it isn’t prefilled, enter the amount of coverage you need, then select “Add.” The shipping cost section of the page shows the insurance cost.
- Read the terms of coverage, and check the box to agree.
- Select “Purchase shipping label.”
Finally, you’ll receive an email confirming that your shipment is insured, along with your insurance policy number.
Can I purchase ShipCover insurance for any carrier?
Currently, ShipCover is only available for eBay shipments when you use USPS®. We may include other carriers in the future.
If an item is lost or damaged, how do I file a claim?
- In Seller Hub, click on Shipping Labels under the Orders tab, and in My eBay, click on Shipping Labels in the Sell section under the Activity tab.
- Find the shipping label for the item and select “Create Claim” under “More Actions.
- Fill out the claim form.
Once I’ve filed a claim, how can I check the status?
- Go to Orders in My eBay or Seller Hub
- Find the order and select View order details
- Select View claim status
Is it easy to verify a claim with my buyer?
Yes. After you file a claim, we’ll need to verify whether the item was damaged in transit or never received. Your buyer can verify your claim by opening a case in the eBay Resolution Center. If your buyer hasn’t opened a case, ShipCover sends an email to the buyer with details on how to complete the verification process.
My buyer tells me that they never received the verification email. Now what?
The buyer can verify the claim through My eBay in one of two ways. They can:
- Click “Won/Purchased” on the left-hand side.
- Find the item and click on the description.
- Click “View order details.”
- Click “Verify shipping insurance claim” and fill out the form.
Or:
- Click on the “Messages” tab at the top of the page.
- Open the message with the subject “Shipping insurance claim received.”
- Click “Verify the claim” and fill out the form.
Are there any items excluded from ShipCover?
Yes, certain items aren’t covered by ShipCover. Here is a list of excluded items and the ShipCover terms of coverage.
