Love BlackBerry - amazing product! Tried and True!

The touch screen Bold 9930 gives you everything you really need. I don't need to carry around a television (iPhone) with me. I can beat most people searching the internet on their iPhones!

Obama and I are sticking with our BBs and Robert DeNiro and I are sticking with our Motorola flip phones. "NEW" does not necessarily mean "Better" in my book!

I have NEVER cracked a screen on a BB, NEVER lost all my contacts, NEVER had to replace the BB in an emergency...they are work horses unlike the Apple products.

The Best Keyboard I've Ever Used On A Phone! HANDS DOWN!

I bought this phone to replace my old Blackberry Curve 8530, and let me tell you, this phone blows my old curve out of the water! The keyboard is the best feature about this phone. I am not exaggerating when I saw that you've never typed on anything this amazing on a phone. The keys are large, shaped perfectly for you fingers, and offer perfect tactile feedback. The touch screen is also a plus for it makes navigation so much easier. The design of the phone is also very elegant with the metal accents. The speaker phone is super load as well. Now, some of the things I don't like. The app selection is BARE! Definitely don't get this phone if you want apps because this phone only has the essentials, i.e. facebook, twitter, etc. Also I have noticed glitches with the phone and sometimes when I go to text, the cursor gets moved around on its own, thus I can input words. It's a little annoying and only does it occasionally, but I still wish it didn't do that. Other than that this phone is great for anyone who does a lot of texting or emails. If you are a Blackberry lover then I would definitely recommend this phone because this is the best Blackberry to date!Read full review...

Replaces all the 8830 problems with responsive behavior and high resolution

Update March 2015,

I can't recommend the 9930 with OS7 (operating system), anymore. HTML has grown over the years, and its browser has become insufficient. The RAM in the phone is insufficient and its management is inefficient. It tends to be slow and freezes plenty.

Recommend any new Blackberry with OS10. People are not aware of them as much as Apples, but there's a very high fall-in-love rate with OS10 Blackberrys. Read up on 'em.

Old review, April 2012:

I got mine new at new egg for 80 bucks, plus another 20 for accessories that I should have waited to buy on eBay. But that includes another 2 year contract.

Battery life depends on how long you keep the back-light on, and the internal gps, and if you listen to music streaming in from the internet and play it out the speaker-phone while browsing the internet, etc., etc.

I do all those things, and got the super-large, after-market battery.

Instead of the little battery-level icon, I like the numeric display. It's a few levels into the menu, but finding it becomes 2nd nature after a few times. Then you can leave it open in the background. Or dozens of apps will display the battery level when the screen saver comes on.

Internal gps works with googlemaps, which the 8830 couldn't do. VZW Navigator and Blackberry Maps come loaded. Setting for turning the gps on or off is a few levels into the menu, but finding it becomes 2nd nature after a few times.

No good Tetris app, but the track-pad works great. Streams music smoothly (using Berrytunes), about 1000X more smoothly than the 8830. 180 MB ram when new, 160 MB after adding Berrytunes, Opera Mini, My Verizon Mobile, Tetris and Mahjong, Empower screen saver and Slide2Open, and photo editing apps. Never acts like it ran out of ram, but I always seem to restart before it drops to 150 MB free.

Used to run my 8830 down to 0 MB ram. It didn't act nice down there.

Opera Mini becomes a pleasure with all the ram, fast processor, and high resolution track pad, instead of an exercise in patience like the 8830. Even the native browser works very well.

Slide2Open keeps you from inadvertently making phone calls when you rub against the touch screen.

Some apps preloaded that you're not allowed to delete (NFL, Bing, Vcast, etc., etc., etc.). But you can hide their icons.

Keyboard un-noticeably smaller than the 8830 keyboard. Please don't get any smaller.

Two-finger-touch works on Media player for zooming when you open photos. Not as smoothly as the i3 and i4. Also can use buttons to easily zoom and unzoom.

YouTube videos open in full screen, and 1080 runs beautifully. But other websites complain I don't have Flash.

Good audio reports.

Slippery as a sliver of cold stainless steel. I put a silicon skin on my 9930, and keep it in my pants or shirt pocket.

Very close to time for me to pair up with a Playbook. neil

An amazingly easy keyboard, screen is too small...

The Blackberry Bold 9930 has the most amazing keyboard! That's why I wanted to buy this phone - I've had a Blackberry in the past and simply loved it.

My frustration with the Blackberry system is that there are not as many free apps available as the Droids seem to have. I also think that the touchscreen is unnecessary when it is so small. After using a Droid M for several months, being limited to the small Blackberry screen was not fun!

Blackberry's are so easy to use and the keyboard is outstanding. If they would make programs that are compatible with other OS, that would be perfect and would have kept me singing their praises.

I love my Blackberry. I just hope RIM maintains a Classic Blackberry line.

I've been a Windows Mobile user for years and have become frustrated that Microsoft has abandoned the ability to sync with Outlook without going through the cloud. That's not something I will ever do. I also like a physical keyboard which the current crop of Windows phones lack. So I've stuck with an ancient Samsung i760. I picked up several when they were still available - the last was a re-manufactured model and it was starting to have issues. It became self-evident I needed to look for another phone.

This is my first Blackberry and I know it's an old model but I absolutely love it. I want a tool not a toy and I don't need a fist full of apps to function. Truth is, my data plan is off most of the time. I use my phone as a micro computer and work on Word documents when I have dead time. I do a lot of texting too. That's where the Qwerty keyboard is great. I really like how the phone loads on the computer like a memory device so it's super easy to transfer documents/photos etc.

excellent

The RIM BlackBerry Bold 9930 has a wider and thinner design and is exceedingly well-made. It boasts stunning graphics, a new touch-screen display, an amazing physical QWERTY keyboard, a faster 1.2GHz processor, and the new BlackBerry OS 7 that brings augmented reality apps, 720p HD video recording, and more. We're also pleased with the photo quality of the 5-megapixel camera.Read full review...

Great phone for communication

Compact design and great reception - wherever I am, I always have a strong signal. The keyboard is easy to use and the keys have a crisp and solid feel. Texting, with one hand or two, is a piece of cake. The sound quality is much better than my HTC and being able to use a trackball or the touch screen to access apps, webpages or phone functions saves time and frustration.Read full review...

BlackBerry Bold is still better than anything BlackBerry, Apple, & Android manufacturers push now

I'm not sure what 'small form factor' means.

Initially, I had a challenge with Internet access & I still haven't been able to transfer my calendar, but the Internet issue appears to be resolved, & I am reconstructing my calendar onto my new BB Bold.

For whatever reason, the battery appears to drain more quickly on my new Bold. It may be that it is an older version of the Bold, than the one I was using, and being a 3G phone, it struggles to work on Verizon's 4 & 5G network

While not perfect, nothing that Apple or Android manufacturers push allows me to have my alarms & appointments on the same calendar, in the format I prefer. Also, I can have as many alarms as I need. I'm not limited w/ alarms, as I am on my Samsung S7. I can also establish my email groups on my Bold, and forward my emails from my phone to these established groups.

I also prefer using the raised keyboard over the keyboard on the screen, and I prefer the spell check on the Bold to the anticipatory spelling on the S7.

The 4G device I have used that best approximates the Bold is the BB Classic, but it failed to be 'Classic' on many aspects. This is why I retreated to the Bold.

I don't know what I'll do when Verizon no longer supports 3G. Maybe those atop Research in Motion can devise a device that will restore what was lost, when it went to the 10 software on their newer software, offering the best of both worlds. I know many who long for what they lost when they went w/ Apple or Android. Having an Android, too, I have access to 4G, a larger screen, etc., but it fails to meet the bar, set by the BB Bold.
