Best finishing resin I have ever used.

What can I say, I used this product for years to fiberglass R/C planes and boats. Great product. A little pricy, but you get what you pay for. One package will cover about a six foot wing, such as a Mustang or a P-47. Its not brittle like most fiberglass resins, but still sands easy. I use 80 grit sandpaper then go right to the primer. Looks good as a finishing coat if sanded with finer increments. Read full review...

Finishing Resin for my boat project

I bought the finishing resin for my R/C boat kit project on the recommendation of the kit manufacturer.
I used it on both inside and outside surfaces of the boat for sealing and waterproofing of the wood. I also used it on the inside to adhere fiberglass cloth. I liked the product for its effect, but I felt it could have been a smidgen thinner to make spreading it over large surfaces a little easier. I settled on a technique of putting some at one end of a surface and using a wide plastic putty spreader to smear it from one end to the other. It spread a long ways from a small amount applied at one end. It actually seemed to flow better after it had been "worked" a little, so overall, I didn't waste much. On the inside surfaces, which were both curved and somewhat obstructed, I used a paintbrush with the bristles cut to about half length to spread the resin. It did not come out as smooth as the putty-spreader method, but covered the surface. There was more buildup and some dripping due to the brush application. The working time was sufficient for doing a fairly large area. I tried thinning a small batch with Acetone, which did make it flow onto the surfaces a little easier, but it became sticky very quickly as the Acetone evaporated and seemed to take longer to set. I wouldn't recommend thinning it and would use it as is. Mixing small batches would have been easier if the bottles were marked with ounces (a fairly large amount) or milliliters (ML), more precise. I used a gram scale and was as careful as I could be with the amounts, and I still ended up with some of one part left over when I finished the other part. I don't know if the two parts weigh the same or if one is slightly heavier, or if I just needed a more accurate scale. I would buy it again and actually have done so.Read full review...

Z-POXY finishing resin. 12 ounce PT-40 size....

Z-POXY. What can I say about it? Well, for starters, I build wooden model boats, and when I have to put a layer of fibre-glas on the hull, this is the best that I've found for doing that. Also great for sealing the interior of the boat. Great price, compared to some others, and the odor is so low, one could say that it really is odorless. I've been using it for some time now, and never had a disappointment...Read full review...

Great as a grain filler for pouous wood

I use it to fill the grain in guitar bodies before final finishing. because of the thickness, one coat is the same as many coats of normal sanding sealer

It works very well for that, cures overnight, and can be sanded cleanly after around 8 hours for a second coat.
It's easy to mix small amounts, so there is a minimum of wasted material.

It darkens the wood and brings out the grain, which is good for figured wood.

I believe it would also consolidate soft or punky wood

Right product for the Job

After reading the instructions to apply Z-epoxy finishing resin to balsa boat, I applied the resin over a layer of lite fiberglass cloth. It was easy as painting to apply. This was my first attempt a using finishing resin prior to painting. The instructions were straight forward with tips that really helped to guarantee a successful application of the resin. My boat finish really received compliments when it was shown at the club meeting.
A happy user.

It is great product it you work with fine woodworking.

My first experience with this product. I modified a base guitar , I made it fretles I filled the slots with rosewood Venire , the resin had no problem filling the slots .I made four layers due to some errors on my side , but it is very forgiven. It sands very well. I buffed it with two kind of compounds (menzerna compounds)with 8 inch of cotton wheels. the colour of the maple and the rose wood came out so beautiful and the finish is glass like .my wife was so impressed with my work . I can't Waite to make other project with it .Read full review...

Strong Stuff

This product is a bit expensive but worth it. The ease of use and strength is really good. The lack of a strong smell is even better. It can also be used as a strong epoxy to bind parts together so it's uses are many.Read full review...

Fiberglassing made easy.

This is the best fiberglass finishing product I've ever used in the rc hobby area. It's light and durable. Easy to sand and form. Use over blue foam molds shaped and sander to scale.

The only epoxy resin and hardener I will use.

Excellent product for model building and finishing. It is easy to mix, apply and work (sanding) when it is dry. I recommend it to all my fellow model builders that want quality finishes to their models. Read full review...
