Xanadu original soundtrack

The soundtrack is much better than the movie. I liked the movie as an eleven year old child, it was one of my favorites, but today it doesn't appeal. although I love to watch Gene Kelly, and Olivia Newton John dance, as a couple they don't work. Olivia Newton John has a beautiful voice though, and ELO is excellent. The songs make you want to dace or sing along. If you loved the Grease soundtrack, you should love this one! A must have for any 80's music fan

I remember one of my Aunts' having the LP of this soundtrack. I remember renting it and loving the whole roller theme, as I happen to love to rollerskate (not blade!)
Flash forward to last month when I heard "Magic" on the radio and felt the impulse to buy the soundtrack. The music is amazing...ELO, The Tubes, and Olivia do a downright awesome rock meets swing meets synth musical. I can't take it out of my cd...
Someone else must have had fond memories of this movie/and or soundtrack, as it is now on Broadway! Buy it and go back in time with some incredible music....

FOR ELO AND OLIVIA NEWTON JOHN COMPLETISTS

The movie was laughable, the soundtrack surprisingly good!
ELO completists will want to pick this up, as their tracks are not found on ELO studio albums or compilations.

This CD opens with several Olivia Newton John (the adorable female lead in the Xanadu movie)cuts, both major hits. Several big band-flavored tunes (from the Gene Kelly dance parts of the movie), then comes ELO at the peak of their commercial success. These cuts are far better than most of what they offered on their Discovery studio album, though not on the same level as ELO's brilliant third, fourth and fifth albums.

This has been hard to find on CD in the US. I was thrilled to complete my ELO collection, thanks to an Ebayer from Europe for eleven bucks! JJ, Vermont, USARead full review...

I had this album in LP form for a number of years then lost it when I moved from Iceland. The music is superb! I enjoyed the movie when I was younger, but it doesn't hold the magic it once did. Still, the music was and is nothing short of great.Read full review...

I had seen Xanadu many years ago & then it was on TV recently. I enjoyed hearing the ELO songs again, especially All Over the World. But the scene where the two bands, one from the 40's & one from the 80's, play alternately really caught my attention. I bought the DVD to be able to enjoy that scene again.
