Great Parts Kit for DIY!

Great OEM Parts kit for replacing the door closer cams and eliminating the loud popping noise when the fridge or freezer doors are opened and closed. My fridge is an 8-1/2 year old Kenmore (mine built by Whirlpool) and the noise suddenly became apparent in the early part of August 2018. I watched several YT repair videos on how to make the repair which is very easy; and you can save a tremendous amount of money by DIY over paying a repairman. The kit contains two different types of cams. Each cam set (top and bottom) align together- one installed at the base of the door and one attached to the fridge frame. The old cam in my fridge door had a thin ridge of plastic around the margin of the cam so I used the new top door cam with the same ridge and a smooth bottom cam. Underneath the bottom cam, I installed the piece of screen (included in kit) which adds friction keeping the cam in place. In just a few minutes, my fridge door operated quietly again. For around $15 and about 30 minutes, you can complete this repair and save money for other things.Read full review...

Exactly right

This kit is oem for my Kitchenaid refrigerator. Installation is fairly simple. YouTube has a couple of videos that demonstrate it. It is probably simplest to do it by putting a block of wood under the door to support it, rather than taking the entire door off. The magnetic gasket holds the door in place. It's also important to have have the right tools.

One problem that I had is that the bottom cam on the refrigerator side would slip a few hours after installation, leading to a quick drop rather than a smooth glide into position. I discovered that the wire mesh "shims," which weren't on the assembly I removed, gave enough friction to prevent that.

Another caution is that there are just two 5/16 screws that hold the hinge bracket in place on the front of the frame of the machine. Don't remove or loosen the third (lowest one), as it keeps a plate behind the frame into which the screws are threaded. If you remove the third, it is a challenge to get that plate back in place.

Our fridge is 14 years old, but the doors are working just as when it was brand new.

Perfect Fit Do It Yourself Repair

I bought the kit not knowing exactly which part(s) needed replacement. Turns out I only needed one piece, but the OEM part fit perfectly (woth assistance from online instructional video) and now my fridge door closes right all the time. Well worth the price compared to the electricity and spoilt food I was wasting.Read full review...
