Awesome fast drive

This drive was purchased for another computer I have. I already have the Wd raptor 1tb which is a newer version than this. But purchased this and installed it into a caddy I had spare. It is almost as fast as the update model. My update model on Windows 10 boots pretty fast. Around 25 -27 seconds. The same install since Windows 10 release. The other PC with this drive boots in around 35 - 40 seconds. Windows 10 which was cloned from another hard drive.

Windows 10 feels snappy with this drive. Not as quick as the flash drive in the Mac. But also not nearly as sluggish as a 7200rpm hard drive.

I highly recommend this drive. And will recommend the newer 1tb drive if you can find it at a reasonable price.Read full review...

A very fast, suprisingly quiet hard disk drive.

After a friend of mine also invested in a 36Gb VelociRaptor hard drive a few years ago, I had been impressed by the speed it had, when compared to standard hdd's. Now it was my time to build a new PC from scratch and so I thought this 160Gb version was worth a try, specially for the price (around 100€). Well I wasn't dissappointed. It is very fast, in particular when it comes to accessing large files on the drive, or booting load-heavy programs from the drive. One really gets a feeling that the only thing faster than this would be a SSD. But perhaps what is more impressive is how silent it really is. Don't get me wrong, it is for sure noisier than a normal 7200rpm HDD, but after hearing the older Rpator drive my friend has that kinda sounded like a lawnmower revving up, this one is barely noticable. In summation, I'm quite satisfied with this HDD and it complements my new PC very well.

I bought two and put them in raid and noticed the benefits straight away gamings got a lot better as the games that lagged a bit on very high settings dont know, the loading is nearly instant action they've even speeded up the internet i at times got in a daze waiting for things to load but with 2 veloiraptors in raid im saving alot of time, so yes if you've got the money spare i recomend them to a computer emphusiast like myself but still quite expensive but still a cheaper alternative to solid state drives.Read full review...

Fast, quiet, just right for games, solid state drives too expensive still when you have 300 gigabytes of games!

Western Digital VelociRaptor

I now have 4 of these HDDs in my PC which is used for Flight Simulators which in itself must tell you what I think of them. Compared to the older HDDs with a speed approximately half the 10,000 rpm that spin at, they are lightning fast, and what's more, at that speed, even more reliable than the older versions as well. As far as I am concerned, these are the best on the market when comparing like with like by which I mean the SDDs which have the advantage of no moving parts. A brilliant buy on Ebay or anywhere else. Lastly, the small footprint allows them to have a very substantial surrounding into which they are installed, and this can prevent damage if it is accidentally dropped on stood on. All in all, brilliant, just brilliant!
