Good, basic kit for an operating model railroad.

This model has been released by Walthers a number of times over the past 30 years. It is not a sophisticated kit with extensive underbody detail. It's a basic kit. Most of the parts fit together well, but there is some flash to be cleaned up. Some parts, notably the air reservoir, don't really fit the way they're supposed to, requiring slight modifications and extra glue.

Overall, this is a decent kit, but not up to the tooling quality of modern-day plastic kits. It's not particularly fragile, so is well suited to an operations-oriented model railroad like mine.Read full review...
