WWE Smackdown Here Comes The Pain is a classic Playstation 2 Video game

WWE Smackdown Here Comes The Pain is without a doubt the greatest Playstation game I've ever played. The game is very addicting and playing the game brings back many memories and a bit of nostalgia so to me it was worth the purchase. Scrolling through Ebay, trying to find a great deal on this game and some of the prices are out of this world. Coming across this game with the price that it was is a great deal. The disc was and is in great condition with a minor scratch on the front of the disc. I am very happy with my purchase.Read full review...

Brings me back

I remember playing this in the early 2000's with my cousins and we had a blast. WWE around this time was changing from the attitude era to the ruthless aggression era, so it was cool to see older wrestlers still in the game while the newer ones were coming in. I would recommend this game for older and younger people because it is an all around fun game. Story mode is awesome and they started to change the grappling system up a bit. For the price i would definitely go for it.Read full review...

used but nice and collectable

I got the game disc by itself at a flea market so I wanted a case and manual. It came in and it looks slightly used but it's still good. No damage. I can take what I can get. The game itself is awesome. WWE was so much better from the 80's to late 2009Read full review...

HCTP is forever the GOAT 🐐

Love it! I purchased this game after watching game footage of it on youtube. Seeing all the positive reviews motivated me to finally buy it. This game is definitely goated and was way ahead of its time. The storylines in season mode, graphics, wrestlers, gameplay, etc. Everything about this game is near perfect. The game itself had a unique personality to it. To top it all off it came right before Christmas, so it was a perfect present for me. Hands down the greatest wrestling game of all time!Read full review...

a solid game

This is a very solid video game and a have must for any wrestling or fighting game fan. The controls are very easy to pick and the roster is top notch. Today this is wrestling hall of fame roster, but when this game came out that was standard WWE. If you are wondering why people want current wrestling games to be this way I urge you to pick this game up and you will see. Read full review...

Here Comes the Review!

The 5th installment of this title is a decent attempt at trying to make you feel more involved in the "wrestling" world. The graphics are poor when you are dealing with a wrestler who is 7'2" and you can't see his legs(they disappear into the ring, sometimes). The storylines are uniqued but there are only a few variances in them from year to year wihtin the game. I have to admit, though, that I do like the game and enjoy just making new wrestlers and watching them in the Royal Rumble. Fun game, complicated controls, decent storylines, but poor graphic design.Read full review...

two wrestling games are godlike...this is one...

As a person who's played nearly EVERY wrestling game since the Nintendo 8-Bit days. I've been able to play and enjoy all types of wrestling games. Some were good, some bad. But there are two games that are pretty much almost flawless, their so good, its scary. Those games are Nintendo 64's WWF No Mercy and Playstation 2's WWE Smackdown! Here Homes The Pain. The former presented gameplay that to this day, has yet to be matched, a simulation of pro wrestling so accurate, you felt like you were watching real life. Then there is Smackdown Here Comes The Pain. A game that has alot of things and does everything great. A wrestling game which has yet to be topped. It's not the perfect pro wrestling simulation...but its a very good one that gives the player alot of choices. What makes this game standout is the sheer gigantic number of options this game offers for almost everything and the excellent way in which it achieves those options. Loaded with every WWE wrestler from 2001-2002 plus some bonus legends of the past. Everything match gimmick WWE is famous for including the Elimination Chamber. The Elimination Chamber has been used in Smackdown vs Raw, Smackdown vs Raw 2006 and Smackdown vs Raw 2007...none of which improved upon the original as presented here in Smackdown Here Comes The Pain. In fact, with every wrestling game released after this one, the elimination chamber matchup got worse and worse. Less camera angles, no glass pod breaking, less glitter. Games shouldn't get worse overtime. Which is why this game still stands the test of time. No wrestling game for gamecube, xbox or playstation 2 has met the standards that Smackdown Here Comes The Pain met. Smackdown vs Raw 2007 even took away a few matches apparently in favor of GM mode. This is a fantastic wrestling game, great graphics, great controls, great sound and very good gameplay that along with N64's WWF No Mercy stands as one of the best wrestling games ever made, highly recommended to all wrestling fans whom want to go at it, in a video game. Oldie but FREAKING GOODIE! New games cannot touch it!

This was the pinnacle of wresting games..Back when they didn't try to make you think it was a TV broadcast and allowed you to thoroughly enjoy the game. I have played every single wrestling game ever released into the mainstream..The Indy games I haven't but, all the WCW-WWF-ECW games I have gotten a chance to play from all systems from Nintendo NES til now and honestly, this game does outpace them in the overall enjoyment factor.. I personally do not give a damn about updated rosters..It's like football games..After 2K5 was the last competitor for EA, the games are NOTHING more than roster updates..I updated the rosters on my my PS2 version of 2K5 and it was NO different except my team sucked even more! (Rams) Who cares about updates, if the game itself is crap?? And the controls are crap? I hate the new controls and I altogether stopped playing the new games and I will only play the newer games..When they come out with a wrestling game that allows me to once again use the buttons for grapples and stuff, I will buy them.. Why change a formula that's worked for a decade of wrestling games????? They just changed it to make the minuscule amount of new content in Smackdown vs Raw 2007 look more substantial, now it is stuck as the default control scheme..At least you could change it to the standard, normal controls...Give the older games a chance, since most of you are to young to remember the original smackdown, That was a good game but this, is the last GREAT wrestling game...It delivers everything it promised, and didn't over-promise anything..Feels nice to get something similar to what you are expecting let alone WHAT youy are expecting..Something you won't see it ANY medium today..Games or not..Give this one a sporting chance!Read full review...

A blast from the past

The game is fantastic, was one of my favorites from my childhood. Disc has some slight scratches on nothing major that impacts the game functionality. Plus the price beats what others were selling it for. Read full review...

WWE Smackdown: Here Comes the Pain

It has good play control which to me is as important as graphics, which on this game is pretty good. I bought it because my buddies and I played it all the time when we were deployed to Afghanistan, and I wanted to see if it was still as good as I remember it being. The only problem I have is the lack of different storylines in the season mode, they are the exact same whether you play on Raw or Smackdown, a few differences would habve been nice.Read full review...
