Genius! A rare shining star in the midst of 80's crap

Cult of Personality; is there anyone that doesn't remember how hard that song hit when it was released to massive air play in the late 80's? Well, if you haven't heard the rest of the album, hold on.
Moving on you have Middle Man, Desperate People, Funny Vibe and Memories Can't Wait. All of these songs have the same attitude, the same harsh social criticism that made this album so great.
The other songs on the album are all fantastic. The only song that I don't truly enjoy (surprising to me, this was also a single) was Glamour Boys. Other than that, the album is a piece of artistic genius that has been lost to the darker side of Living Colour, which I do like, but I miss the original Living Colour with their cynical-sunny lyrics, hard hitting percussion, amazing guitar, and (as a bassist I feel qualified to say this) one of the greatest bassists ever to pick up the instrument, Muzz Skillings.
Do yourself a favor and get this piece of 80's positive side; after all, there wasn't much good about the 80's.

Living Colour VIVID a must-have gem in a world of crap

Purchased LIVING COLOUR'S VIVID to replace my copy. These men rock so hard and so well that this CD will quickly become a favorite in your collection. To top off the tasty chops are lyrics that have the stink of life on them. social issues and neighborhood woes are touched on, the power of celebrity and politic is explored, and so much more. This album is for people who like real music, I'm talking screaming ripping talent the likes of which you wish would put out album after album. LIVING COLOUR was a 'project' band of top-flight musicians that released very little; find and savor all you can.Read full review...

Living Colour - C. D.

I ordered it, got it on time.
I had heard this band, a long, long, time ago on the radio.
They were Rock Solid!
I had no idea,
of how much,
I am Enlightened.
A friend had it on his outdoor speaker, and I asked who it was, The Band. And here we are. It ROCKS! I will purchase more from this person again. Everything went smooth as Silk.Read full review...

Living Colour - Vivid

Living Colour is a band that was under-rated in my opinion. These guys are talented musicians, good song writers & have a great sound. Their songs offer a variety to the listener, not just the same rifs w/a key or rhythm change. Their biggest hit "Cult of Personality" is on this album & is still very listenable in spite of all of its airplay. A great band & album for those who want to rock hard to something different & very good.Read full review...

this is a fantastic album! Living Color was always ahead of their time and this album is proof! they are what you get when you mix jimmy hendrix fishbone with some sly and the family stone all sexed up in james browns house while using a geoge clinton condomRead full review...
