Swami Vivekanananda was a true monk; one has yet to see a modern oriental monk surpass him. The book starts with Vivekananda's life - a maverick, an iconoclast - a person who would never accept a dogmatic - God. Till his last, he was outspoken and fearless in the truth and his reasoning. Even though his teacher and guru - Sri Ramakrishna had once mentioned the ancient aphorism - that a monk, a god-man, an apostle like coinage no longer in distribution can only justify the age he / she is born; Vivekananda and his discourses are still a big impact on America and mankind. The book is extremely candid and Swami Nikhilananda after nearly 70 years of Vivekananda's era does an excellent job of presenting and preserving Vivekananda's leonine, aristocratic countenance.
