Don't lose out on "The Lost City of Z"
A fascinating blend of adventure, history and ethnology, Grann's "The Lost City of Z" is, simply, a damn good read. The story could fit well into those reality series which tease with fantastical tales of wealth in which the host visits some far-flung site, stays a day, then goes off to the next wild goose chase -- except Grann has invested years of his time and effort, actually makes a real journey and then actually gives us a valid solution to the mystery of lost cities and lost explorers chasing what seems to be a fantasy of a forgotten civilization deep in the Amazon. Plus the man can write a good tale, never boring, quite personal at times, and always instructive. I doubt the newly released movie about "Z" reveals the story's many layers as the book does, which concludes with a balanced and thoughtful analysis of whether or not "Z" was real. By all means, read the book!Read full review...

The Amazon jungles of the 1925's....what more could you ask for?
The book is in like new condition and was well packed. I can't wait to begin reading it as this story sounds like the adventure of a lifetime I like this author as I have read another of his books and his style makes for a great combination of history with a little fiction thrown in.to heighten the exciting parts.Read full review...

True history but it reads like a novel.
True history but it reads like a novel. I saw him in a TV interview, thought I'd try one of his books. I think he'll be a new favorite autor.

A good book.
Mr. Grann is a very good writer and the book reads more like a novel than a true-life adventure story.

Lost City if Z
Well written book. The book goes between chapters about Percy Fawcett's expeditions and the authors personal experiences while attempting to follow in Mr. Fawcett's footsteps. There is also great insight into the peoples and cultures of the amazon. Recommended.Read full review...
Book Review
Continuously seeking adventure, and finding very little, I found myself less and less wanting to finish the book. Was written more on the lines of a rather boring documentary.

An excellent, enjoyable, interesting true story!
This is a fascinating, thorough, well written and well paced story. Definitely something to read if you're interested in the history of the age of European exploration when the Royal Geographic Society was created in order to map the still unknown parts of the word. It's also the story of one of the most intrepid explorers, his mysterious disappearance when he was in search of a fabled lost city and a reporter's attempt to discover the truth behind it all.Read full review...
