Works great--sturdy and easy to use
I bought this to lap the valves on a Jeep 4.0 I6 head and it was perfect. You have to tap the spring to unseat the keepers on the valve stem--this tool is not going to break it loose--but it will compress the spring and hold it stable. It's a wide enough span and heavy duty enough to use on pretty much any head I'll ever have.Read full review

For light weight springs only
This spring compressors retainer jaws are made from soft metal, and the handle is extremely short so there is no real leverage to compress any type of tight racing valve spring.

Very poor tool
I had given my old American made valve spring compressor to my nephew thinking I would never need it. Well I needed it, but decided to purchase this one for myself. I could not compress a single spring with this cheap Chinese compresser. It does not creat enough mechanical advantage to compress the spring. Don't by it.Read full review

As cheap as the price
I couldn’t even finish doing the valves/springs in one cylinder head before the swivel cup broke off. Shortly after that the threaded part of the tool started to bend and the fork end distorted to the point that it would not hold the spring. It might be a great tool for small engine repair but nothing automotive. Unless I got the only $15 lemonRead full review

Nice tool for the price
I bought this for to pull the valves from my 1952 f-head 134 engine. Specifically for the exhaust valves, since they are in the block (not the head). This tool worked flawlessly. Had all four exhaust valves out in ten minutes.
Most likely won’t work on overhead cam engines but, for my application, perfect 👌 Read full review

Not the sturdiest of tools. the disk on the screw tightener broke off on the first valve I tried to compress. Gets the job done but since it is not really sturdy it complicates a relatively simple operation.Read full review

good quality
worked, good quality, did not have enough length with adjustment screw to compress valve springs for removing keepers on a kohler magnum engine. I had to use a spacer. Might be great for other engines and these old magnums are pretty obsolete.Read full review

Not for full-size jobs
I bought this tool to use on an LS engine. It’s big enough for the cylinder head. But the handle is so short there’s no way I could squeeze it hard enough to compress the springs. So I bought another tool for my specific engine Read full review

Well made
Had to pull the valves on a 4 cylinder flat head tractor motor. This compressor worked perfectly.
