HBOscores another hit
HBO has really led the way for the Premium Channels to step into producing hit shows. They really paved the way with shows like "The Sopranos", "Curb Your Enthusiasm", and "Six Feet Under". "True Blood" is another great show in a line of hits. The show, about vampires that have come out of the closet and are trying to live with humans. They are able to survive by drinking a brand of synthetic blood called True Blood instead of feeding on human blood. The main vampire character is trying to live among humans and feed on True Blood. He calls this mainstreaming. The story describes the story of the town that Bill lives in. The greatest thing about this series is the character development that goes along with the interesting stories and people. I found myself looking forward to hitting play again and again. Sometimes my wife and I would watch 2 episodes when we really only had time for 1. I highly recommend this show.Read full review...
Forget Twilight
I was hesitant to watch True Blood because of all the current teen vampire hype, but because I was a Six Feet Under fan, I gave Allan Ball's next effort a chance. After the first episode I was hooked; the characters are all complex, the storyline intricate (even I didn't see the end of the season coming!) and above all, they get their vampire facts straight. They burn in the sun and actually feed on humans, and must abide by a strict vampire code. Anna Paquin is so endearing as mind-reading waitress Sookie Stackhouse, who is loving but level-headed in a world where vampires enter society. Stephen Moyer is romantic but not oversexed as vampire Bill Compton, who keeps to Civil War courting etiquette and separates himself from his murderous peers. And all set in a small town in Louisiana, this show sheds a believable light on the vampire myth. Just watch the first episode and you will end up buying the season!Read full review...
True Blood is amazing, best show, keeps you hooked!
This show is the best show on television. It's the only reason I have HBO. The actors and actresses make it so much more believable. What I love about it is that it is set up to tell the story of what would happen if vampires really did exist, and they do a great job of putting vampires into every day life. The little things they sneak in help too. For example, in a scene, there is a tabloid that says "Angelina adopts vampire baby". The suspense is key. True Blood is awesome. I am an huge fan.
I was always a Twilight Fan. Now, don't get me wrong, I love Twilight, but the story line of True Blood draws me in more. I got into watching this show starting in the second season and was addicted immediately. I have recently started into watching season one, so I decided to buy my own instead of renting them. I feel like it's the "grown up" version of Twilight. Most of all, I love the fact that vampires are portrayed in a different way than what we always see. Before Twilight and True Blood, when vampires were mentioned, immediately my mind went to "Salem's Lot", or Dracula. 5 DISC - 2 BAD ONES
I ordered this not knowing exactly where it was shipping from. After paying I was notified by seller that it was possible that disc 5 would not play. I was going to refuse shipment but they asked me not to. They asked that I try all discs and let them know if any did not work. I contacted them to let them know that disc 1 did not play through all episodes and disc 5 was in fact bad and would not play at all. Their solution was for me to pay them another $3 dollars to ship a new disc 1 and disc 5. This is far from the best solution as I should not have to pay one more dime for this purchase. I reluctantly did and now that I've gotten my replacement disc, here is the less than excellent rating for the purchase even though they specifically asked me not write a bad review. Very satisfying
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!!! I was told by a few co-workers that I NEEDED to start watching TrueBlood. Well, I love vampires, horror films, etc. So, i figured what the heck, I just might enjoy the show. One day when I had time I sat down and set my dish hopper to record all TrueBlood episodes, new or old. The day I sat down to see what all the hoo ha was about was disappointing! I was so confussed and could not get myself interested in the slightest way! I soon explained this situation to the girls at work and they agreed that I needed to start from the very beginning, Season 1 episode 1. I purchased it just so I get a hold of things and determine if I would be interesed in the show or not. OH MY!!!! Was I!!! I sat and watched the entire first season without a break, and when it was over I was wanting more!!! Awesome show!! So, so good!! Love the actors & actresses. TrueBlood First Season
I read the entire series of books before even realizing that the TV show was based on them, so I was really interested to see how they made the TV show. It was great! I got this as a Christmas gift and my husband and I have already watched the entire series because it's so addictive. I am not one to make a big deal out of changes from the book to the TV/movie version, but there are severaly noticeable changes in the storyline. A lot of it is true to the books, which is nice, but a lot of it is also different, so it's interesting to watch the show even if you have read the books. It was great and we can't wait to see the next season. We *almost* like it enough to order HBO for when the third season airs.Read full review...
Great Show
I love the show and cant get enough of it. I was though disappointed by the packaging of the season, something I am picky about. The season comes in a package that is made of a type of material that I feel shows scratches that usually would never show up on a tv season case. Also HBO puts a paper on the outside of the box that is supposed to be removed and when I took it off the sticky material stuck to the case instead of coming off. This sticky material was then extremely hard to remove. Besides the exterior I am so excited to have the Season of True Blood!Read full review...
True Blood season 1
--Awesome HBO series that I watched from start to finish. If you love vampire tales this one has all of the goons and goblins. You have Bill the vampire of many, and Sookie the woman with ESP, who fall in love. Oh, by the way the world has accepted the vampires to live among them, as long as they follow some rules, but the vampires and the humans break the rules. Humans use vampire blood like LSD to get high, and the some of the vampires just like to continue feeding on humans. Along the way, there will be shape-shifters, voodoo priestess, and many other creatures to capture your attention. True Blood-The Complete First Season
At first I did not like the show but as it progressed I was drawn into the lives of the characters & the plot of the series. It is like a prime time soap opera & I got hooked on it. I had missed a couple of episodes so I decided to buy the first season to make sure I had not missed any episodes. It is not a show for children but such a show is great for adults.
