Smart, sexy, and most definitely entertaining

I ordered HBO specifically to watch True Blood on Sunday nights. The show is well written, providing mystery to go along with the sex and gore. The characters are well acted. True Blood's cast does an excellent job of creating a world which is exciting to watch. I've read the first two Sookie Stackhouse novels, and I honestly enjoy the show more. Who says that? Books are always better, but the show really takes the story to another place.
I don't want to give away any intricacies of the show. I'll leave you with this, there isn't anyone I know who watches this show and doesn't love it. Do yourself a favor and jump on the bandwagon.

True Blood

Do not let Twilight scare you away from this excellent series. HBO has done it again with beautiful visuals, compelling characters, and lots of steamy scenes. The setting of Bon Temps, Louisiana lends an authentic southern feel to the show which is full of great veteran actors and some excellent fresh faces. Women will love the show for the romance, passion, and the allure of the ultimate bad boy, a vamp. Men will love the action, gore, and plethora of attractive women. Everyone will love the humor and sexy scenes which compromise a large percentage of the show. Yes, it's a show about vampires but underneath the subject matter is a bit of social commentary, hilarious situational comedy and a modern day twist on romance. Take the time to lose yourself in the strange world of True Blood.Read full review...

True Blood - The Complete First Season

As a fan of Charlaine Harris and someone who has read all the Sookie Stackhouse books, I couldn't wait to see this. It was great but doesn't follow the book to specifics. I guess for TV they have to add more to the characters and cut out on some parts. For example Jason is still a womanizer but is addicted to vampire blood which he wasnt in the books. This was still a fantastic watch. It's great to put faces to all the characters to see if your imagination did them justice. They defintely picked the right Sookie and Bill. Eric and Pam, of course, are sexy and mysterious. Lafayette plays a big part in this which he doesnt in the books so he is completely something of a surprise since all you know about him is that he is gay. Tara has a significant role and you learn a lot about her life. All and all I will probably watch this over and over again in between seasons. I now have HBO (just because of True Blood) and am able to watch the new episodes as they happen.
I must warn the parents of the younger readers of the books there is a lot of cursing and sex in this so parents beware!!!

True blood -The Complete first Season(DVD,2009,5 Disc)

This is a great story of vampire & human relation compaired to others that have been made. With this being a season set it can go on farther in the story then the movies do & explain more detail of thier story. It was not a show I would expect to see on HBO but good no matter what. It has a better story then Twilight even though it is not finished yet with it's story. I would recommend this to fans of the vampire set.Read full review...

My take on: True Blood

True Blood is an HBO drama set in 2009 Bontemps, Louisiana. Focused on Sookie Stackhouse, a waitress with telepathic abilities and her relationship with the town and it's inhabitants. One in particular, Bill Compton, with whom Sookie has an immediate connection with- is a vampire that has given up killing humans for blood and went "mainstream" by drinking a mass produced synthetic blood called True Blood.
I found the series to be very intriguing. Filled with what I'd like to call country innocence and a host of zany characters with other unique abilities. It makes for an interesting watch.

Great Series!

After watching other book-based television series, I was a little leery to watch True Blood because I enjoyed the books so much and didn't want to spoil the experience with sub-par acting and omissions. Nevertheless, one day I sat down to watch a marathon and instantly I was hooked. I love the TV series almost more than the books because while the general plot line remains about the same, the show ties all the events together in completely unexpected (though very satisfying ) ways, so you're not left with a complete sense of predictability. The pacing of the storyline always manages to leave me in suspense and wishing for the next episode to come around quickly. The show gives much more depth and detail to many of my favorite supporting characters and each episode leaves me craving more. There are some explicit scenes in this series but not enough to distract from the plot itself. Overall, I think it's brilliant the way they've produced this, and the edits and additions haven't left me dissatisfied in any way.Read full review...

Great Vampire Series

I actually rented the whole series from Netflix and watched the whole season over 4 days. I couldn't stop watching! I had low expectations b/c I'm a fan of vampires, but kind of figured been there done that. I had heard this was a good series, so I thought I'd rent the first dvd & go from there. The series has great actors & story lines. Enough new mixed w/ the classic vampire myth to make it interesting. The characters have depth & are well developed. The settings are great as well. I decided to buy the series even though I already watched it. It is one of those programs that you know you will find something different each time you watch it.Read full review...

A must see vampire series!

I have read all the Sookie Stackhouse book series and I have to say Alan Ball did a GREAT job for the first season and also for the second season. I have never been so caught up in a television and book series before. Even though some parts were different, nothing was disappointing at all. Everyone are excellent actors and actresses and they play their part perfectly. I can't stop reading the book series and watching both seasons of True Blood. I can never get tired of it! I've watched the series over and over again on Demand comcast and I decided to buy the series because its worth keeping. Also, Alexander Skarsgård, Anna Paquin, Stephen Moyer & Ryan Kwanten are smoking HOT!!!Read full review...

Amazing!

I can't believe it took me this long to start watching this series. I watched the entire 12 episodes within 24 hours, staying up until 7 am... And I am planning to watch it all over again, now that I know the resolution, to see what clues I missed.

The casting is perfect, and I loved the complex story line. Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer have great chemistry. I loved, LOVED Lafayette and Sam. It was funny at times, very intense in others, and thought-provoking throughout, with LOTS of surprises and plot twists. I like how Sookie's telepathy is portrayed. There are several scenes with exposition (Bill explaining vampire powers to Sookie, for example), that I'm not too thrilled about how it was handled, but those are wrapped up in the first couple of episodes. I'm really looking forward to watching next season, especially with MORE ERIC.

There is a lot of sex and nudity, violence, drugs and adult language. This series is definitely not for everyone, but I really enjoyed it.

Season 2, here I come!

A good buy

Some of the discs don't play in my DVD player...The picture distorts and freezes (Some sort of digital thing)...However, they play fine in my computer...I got a little frustrated when I had to leave my 40inch TV half way through an episode because the disc wouldn't play and finish that episode at my pc. Not sure if it's the dics or the DVD player...However, still a good buy I don't regret!Read full review...
