I have been a gym rat for the past eight years and purchased it because of gym closures in the country and I absolutely love it. Can get a great workout in the comfort of my home. Great machine for moderate exercises at home

I bought this machine due to the pandemic closing down all the gyms. I work out moderately (maybe 3-4 times a week) and found that this machine works great for most things. I'm able to get good chest, back, arm, and core workouts using examples I've found online for using the Total Gym. For people with already strong legs, you may want to be an additional weight bar and weights that can attach to the slide board; one-legged squats and calf raises aren't challenging even on the highest setting for this machine. Using the added wing attachments works great for leg curls though. The included leg pull accessories could be better; the factory rope is pretty chintzy, and the ankle cuff doesn't like to stay in place if you're using it for leg extension exercises.

Overall, I'd definitely still recommend it with the caveat that you may want to buy a few additional accessories to get the most out of the machine.

Weight Bar Is The Key

This is actually pretty good . As long as gyms are going to be closed , this is a decent substitute . If you're a woman or a guy for that matter and just want to stay toned this is a very good piece of equipment. If you're looking to put size on , this is not really going to do it unless you get the weight bar , and the weight bar is NOT included with this . The APEX 3 is discontinued and I have no idea where you would get a weight bar that fits this particular model - but what you can do is get a 3/4" diameter 4 ft. steel bar - perfect substitute , costs like $25 on Ebay. ( it'll hold standard 1" plates ) I've seen infomercials for this thing for decades and thought it was a joke ..It's actually a very well built , well thought out machine . Great for toning . If you want to build muscle the weight bar is a must , and if you go that route you'll get pretty good workout , I'm really surprised by this thing . Well worth it imoRead full review...

Total Gym review

Never thought I would like Total Gym since I always use free weights at the gym, but needed something to stay in shape while locked up at home with this Corona virus pandemic going on. Price was right, less then Olympic weight set $400 plus Weight bench another $300- $400, and thought if Total Gym was OK for Chuck Norris I'd give it a try. Wasn't disappointed the Total Gym was easy to set up, easy to fold up for storage and gives me a great workout. And when I need a little more resistance I add a 50 lb sand bag, comes in handy to rest your head on while working out.Read full review...

Lightweight and easy to use for someone who has never "worked out in a gym".

I bought the Total Gym to help with shoulder pain and stiffness that was keeping me from shouting my longbow and recurve bows. The Total Gym helps me stretch them out and give them a low impact work out from different angles. After using the Total Gym about a week I'm back to shooting without pain. Now that I'm in my 60's I can see it will be a great help in keeping all my joints and muscles loose and moving. Thanks!!Read full review...

I found a exercise machine that will be used.

Easy to understand flip chart. I can do as much as I can and work up. No jarring, just body movement. I love working out at my own pace . I have only had it four days, but I fell better when I get out of bed in the morning. Not so much snap, crackle and pot.Read full review...

Look for strength

Assembly was very easy and use. I lost a lot of strength after stop attending my gym, due to the pandemic. I am slowly feeling stronger, thanks to my TotalGym and use of exercise videos. Perfect for reestablishing a exercise routine at home .Read full review...
