This Toshiba external hard drive is a very reliable, awesome product.

I bought this external hard drive because it is a Toshiba and has 500GB of memory, small, portable and trustworthy and reliable. I love it. Have not had one bit of trouble with it. I like the size of this external hard drive and can trust it to not crash. I purchased a Western Digital portable external drive just like the Toshiba and had to have it replaced 3 times. The first time I used it after installing all my backup files on it, it crashed and I lost all my irreplaceable work files for the last 3 years and could not recover them. This is the only External Hard Drive you'll ever need

The Toshiba Canvio 3.0 500 GB External Hard Drive is great for anyone looking to buy a External Hard Drive I highly recommend it to every one. Apart from its good look classy case cover it also is a great High Quality Brand. I bought a iomega HDD and it was about the same just plug and play no adapters all you need is USB. The only thing I did not like about the iomega was the USB cable came unplugged easy. But the Toshiba went beyond that the USB cable actually stays plugged in nice and tight plus it comes with recovery memory and also an eraser program. I highly recommend this product plus for the price your getting a better External Hard Drive for cheaper then most External Hard Drives.Read full review...

Awesome item value for my money! thanks to the seller who sold it to me!!

I bought ths product cuz I needed a large storage harddrive. I totally like this item cuz I can bring it along with no problems of either size or weight. Heck! I am strong enough to carry this and other heavier stuff!! I see other students carring and using their small flashdrives. Good for them. some misplace their flasdrives and lose them. My external hardrive is big and visible! hard to misplace it! I like my Hxternal hard drive. It works great!!Read full review...

I am very frustrated with this product.

I had a 5 years old external HD and thought this would be faster. It is not, same transfer speed.
The backup software that came with it never worked well, allways gives message errors during backup and never finished one, even leaving the computer on for 12hs.
The Canvio software (suposed to manage the backup software and others) freezes.
When you look the Toshiba website to donwload this software (maybe it would run better than the one coming with the HD), it does not even show this HD model!
By the way, my computer is brand new, reliable brand and good configuration thus it is not my computers problem.Read full review...

Am using this exteral HD as a backup for my photos.It works well

The hard drive is acceptable and am happy to receive it.
So far I have entered at least 16,000 photo + plus on similar capacity hard dives and find it to be a memorable keepsake

Highlu rwecommend this for everyone as back up is very simple

Great back up device preloaded software makws set up very simple. If you are Using Window 7 it set up by itself and I would recommed that everyone get at least two of these as with Internal hard drives you never know when you will crash. Excellent performance for a 500GB Hard drive! I needed it to put hundreds og GB of music, videos and pics! Excellent to transfer music and other data to other computers! :D :D

so far so good

Prior buying this HDD I had WD passport, which failed as was dropped from 30 cm height whilst working. Thanks it gave me a chance to retrieve some very important information, but then died.
Being honest this Toshiba cost me cheaper than WD, but I'm completely satisfied with quality of the product. It has a perfect design with solid body. In comparison with WD is far away forward. Works perfect, goes on standby when not operated and many many others.

External hard drive

It works great and is in nice condition but when I received it there was downloaded movies to it which I don't know if they were pirated or not.
