Good value lens

I received the lens in a very protective package. The lens is good shape, no scratches, but very minor wear which is not noticeable. I don't see dust inside the lens, although there are dusts on the lens surface, the filter, and the rear lens element. I just cleaned them. The glass on the UV filter is a little bit loose. I am OK with it as I can use another filter. The rear cap is not the original Tokina one, but I can accept that, too.

Top peice of equipment ans a joy to use.

After much research and reading many online reviews I chose the Tokina over the Nikon. This decision was largely made because of cost with the Nikon lens being so much more expensive.
Since purchasing this lens I have tested it on many shoots and have found it excellent both in the smoothness of use and the quality of the image resulting from the shoot when coupled with my Nikon D7000.If I had to nit pick and find a fault I might say the weight as it is a hefty lens.But having said that it is a sturdy lens which I think you could run over with your car and it would come up trumps ( I'm not going to do this mind you..lol) This lens feels like a "real" piece of photographic equipment as opposed to some plastic equipment found in the market place.

Excellent Lens ! Built Well and Affordable!

I just received this lens a few days ago and was a little nervous at first because I have been shooting with all Nikon products for over thirty years.

I purchased this lens because of reviews I had read and the cost for the focal length. I needed this focal length for Landscape and other applications. When I received this lens I was very happily surprised at the weight and the ease of operation. I used it for a Night shoot on a lake and it worked very well.

I did not like the way the lens attaches to the camera. There is a mark to line it up, but in the dark it was hard to see even with a light. I would give this lens a 9 out of 10 and would recommend it to anyone looking for an affordable Ultra Wide Lens.Read full review...

Great wide angle lens to have

The Tokina 12-24mm II wide angle lens is inexpensive, very sharp and built solidly. For all practical purposes, this lens is at least as good as the Nikon 12-24mm DX lens. The version II has its own internal motor for auto focusing and will work on lower-end Nikon DSLR cameras such as D40 and D50. It will also work on modern D3000 and D5000 series cameras. For me, it's a perfect wide angle lens and I'll use it everyday without any reservation.Read full review...

Tokina 12-24mm F4 ATX Pro DX Nikon fit

This is one of the best ultra wide angle lenses out there. I have tried most of them at one time or another and the Tokina takes some beating.
It is solid and well built, it foucusses fast, it is very sharp almost across the whole frame except at wide open (f4) where it is only a little bit softer in the extreme corners.
Colour rendering is excellent and focus is spot on every time.
CA's are a bit on the high side but these are easy to remove either in Camera or during post processing.
Distortion is very well controlled at all focal lengths and is simple in form making it easy to correct.
Vignetting is no worse than other comparable lenses.
All in all this is a great lens with a good range and excellent value for money.Read full review...

Very good lens....period.

I purchased this lens in preparation of a trip to Bosque del Apache NWR in New Mexico. I was immediately impressed with the high level of contract and saturation. I own 3 Canon L type lenses, and this Tokina matches them in this respect. As it turned out, the lens provided too wide an angle to be of much use at Bosque. I ended up using my Canon 17-85mm for the morning fly outs. But I would highly recommend this lens to anyone needing a really wide angle lens. Good value and good build

It's a very good value lens. 12-24 is a nice wide angle. It's f/4.0 which is very good but not as good as f/2.8. It is a tad soft at f/4.0, ok for portraits but sharpens up good at f/5.6.
Again for the price, which is half of a Nikon lens, the quality of the photos can't be better.Read full review...

Great super wide angle zoom!

This lens is actually manufactured by a group of Nikon opticians and engineers that started Tokina a number of years ago. There is no disappointment in this lens either. It is pro-quality all the way from optics to fit and finish. I had heard that images were a little soft wide open at 12mm...bunk! The lens is extremely sharp throughout the zoom range. For a DX DSLR this gives you the 35mm equvelant of a 16-36mm lens. I was very fortunate as these sell in the $500 range and I got this for only $200 and in as-new condition! A similar lens by Nikon runs around $1,000...I'm quite happy with this at a fraction of the cost yet every bit as good.Read full review...
