Very good read, a must have for beginners like me

Although the date of the draft for this book may seem a bit outdated, it does cover a lot of ground for the subject gladly ignored by many. While it may be tempting to study one particular branch of science, become knowledgeable and reap rewards in terms of a good-salaried jobs, none of the known systems exist in an isolated environment. This book will help you put it all into a proper prospective, or, to avoid well-beaten up stereotype, will help you see how it connects together in myriad ways.

I have not progressed very far with this book, as I am constantly being sidetracked, for I have to pull up wikipedia articles every time I find something I do not know yet. But just the first chapter will give you a good glimpse of what lays ahead. Having studied mechanical engineering and electrical engineering, I have little understanding of what systems are and how complex a simple analysis can become. This book is a recommend read for inquiring minds.

Couldn't get throughit...

This may be an excellent book, but I couldn't get through the first few chapters because they were so dry. There are some interesting concepts and maybe the book becomes more interesting, but this writing style did not keep my attention. The slinky picture is cool, though.Read full review...
