Good old early 1980's movie about a man returning from the future, after a war that saw mankind replaced by machines. This war supposedly occurred in 1997, and practically all humans were wiped out. This guy is looking for a woman named Sarah Connor, who in the future will have a son who will be the leader of the remaining humans in the war to retake the planet from the machines. There is another traveler also. This one is a machine that looks like a person, a Terminator. This is a killing machine that is practically unstoppable. It is looking for Sarah Connor too, not to save her, but to kill her before she can have the son that leads the rebels in the future. This is the beginning of the Terminator series, and sets the stage for a series of movies. The Terminator is a tough advisory, and kills anybody and everything that gets in it's way. Awesome series. Great actors in all of the sequels.

I enjoyed this movie and all of the actors who starred in it. It was at the time like no other movie of its kind. It has led to a successful series of sequels which I have enjoyed.

Great value for the money.

I bought it to replace a dull swedish DVD release i bought quite a few years back.
Though its picture quality was fine my native release only had the enchanced 5.1 sounds and total removal of the mono tracks which gave the film its 80's feel but also its punch and horror of its weapons and the Terminators view mode sound.

A semi-classic

This is the one that started the entire Terminator series and launched Arnold's career. Some of the special effects show some age but overall this is a great movie. If you watch The Sarah Connor Chronicles on TV you must see this movie to get the history.

One of the facts on the insert that I found hard to believe was that OJ Simpson was chosen for the role of the terminator originally but was not given it because James Cameron, the director, said that no one would believe that OJ would kill anyone.

My favorite part is when the terminator is in his hotel room and the manager knocks on the door and complains about the smell. The list of responses that the terminator has to choose from and ultimately his response are hilarious.

Still a great movie!

I already have "The Terminator" on Blu-ray but wanted this DVD Edition for the Special Features disc. None of those features were ever ported over to the Blu-ray. They were really good! Thank you.

Excellent classic film

Excellent classic Schwarzenegger film. Put him on the map. Very pleased to find the DVD in superb condition. The Terminator ( First Movie)

My father have us a bunch of vhs tapes and one of these had the Terminator movie on it. I had no idea back then what is was even about. So I sat and watched it. I thought it was a really good movie, one of those movies you can sit and watch over and over. Well as my son gre older he too enjoyed Terminator. The vhs tape was kind of grainy, but we still watched it for many years. Well I decided to try and find it on DVD for my son for Christmas. Well I did find one and he was very surprised and still enjoys this movie as much as he did the first time that he saw it. A great movie for those who have never seen it.Read full review...
