Unless you're somehow interested in Prince's life or career, then it is not a book for everyone. I truly understand how Mayte fought to protect and respect Prince's privacy (and obviously her own), but I think a little more could have been unveiled, even safely keeping Prince's cherished memory.

A Love And Heartbreak Story

Detailed and compelling. Tragic. An honest look at another side of Prince that only a few may have seen. I was always conflicted about his 90’s output but I have a different take on it now. As mysterious as he was, the loss of a child is beyond comprehension for anyone. Once he lost that the magic in his eyes was gone. It felt that he was searching for something to believe to help cope. I'm happy Mayte wrote this book! It isn't anything salacious or "tell all". She explains her own life and how she met Prince and she discusses the relationship they had. Prince was very much prepared to be a dad and he was truly disappointed when that didn't happen. Mayte briefly touches on how much she knew about Prince and his "pain killer addiction". I still can't understand why he felt the need to pretend their child was still alive on Oprah. In retrospect, they seemed like the saddest new parents ever.
