Great blu-ray conversion. Skimpy on the extras.

This is an amazing movie with a story that transcends age, gender, and nationality. But this is more for the extra features on this blu-ray release.

I bought this to replace my ageing VHS version. The picture is vibrant and the music is crisp in 7.1 sound.
The extras include a cop-out 'second screen' option that utilizes an ipad or laptop to 'experience the movie' better. I dislike this option as I like my special features to be on the disc instead of requiring an additional accessory.
Also included is a good, if short, documentary from the director and cast on the filming of the movie, almost 20 years after they started working on the movie and another featurette on the production of the movie. A better documentary for this time period is found in Waking Sleeping Beauty. There's also a sing along mode and a blu-ray picture gallery, good for children but they get bored quickly.

All in all, it is a great movie that Disney does a fantastic job remastering in HD. The extras are scant but if you can get this for 20 dollars or less, it's a steal.Read full review...

Great Price!

Good price if you want to enjoy the Lion King movie. The Blue-Ray color features was very good. Sound Quality was ok. If your looking for a CD with the Best Quality in color AND sound, you might be better off paying a little more for a better quality CD.
I just wanted a CD so I could watch the movie with my granddaughter before we went to see the Lion King broadway play so this was perfect for the occasion.
The sound quality might be a disappointment for those looking for a good Lion King CD (the blue-ray color was excellent though)Read full review...

The Lion King Movie is a great movie with wonderful features

This Lion King Movie was wonderful for us when my wife and I saw the original movie in 1994 and I had bought the movie quite a few years ago but when I tried to watch the movie again several months ago it wouldn't display the movie and, because I love watching this movie I decided to purchase it again and I watched it again over the weekend and I loved seeing the Lion King movie again. Great Blu-ray addition for my collection!

The DVD is amazing! I finally found a Lion King DVD + Blu-Ray for a good price! However, there is one bad thing about it, which is The Disney DVD works perfectly with no visible scratches, but when you play the film, you can hear popping noises in the background. Not really what i expected, but it may be just my dvd player which is old. But other than that, the Blu ray set was amazing. I love the slipcover by the way, love the detail! Great, timeless classic!

An enduring classic, which I enjoyed 20 years ago. I even went to see the Broadway production of the Lion King. It was also spectacular.

I wanted my six-year-old daughter to experience this great classic so I was happy to find it on Ebay at such a great price. She fell in love with it also. The Lion King is a Excellent Buy!

The Lion King is an absolute classic, I grew up on. I was deeply surprised not to find this movie on iTunes, but no matter. I find this movie really touches my heart. I bought this for two main reasons: First reason is I own this movie on DVD which I am trying to continuously update my DVD collection to Blu-Ray. The Second reason in conjunction with my first reason is I am buying Blu-ray because it looks and sounds better then DVD. Plus theres some awesome bonus features you can only find on Blu-ray but you can't find on DVD especially with Disney DVD's it doesn't matter if you buy the Special Edition, Limited Edition, Platinum Edition etc, which this only applies to DVD's in some cases there are no differences between Blu-ray or DVD editions of movies.
What I like is I have the Blu-ray & DVD version, where in all cases I only had one: DVD. The Disney Blu-ray Diamond Edition movies are relatively the same with some having Digital HD codes (often redeemed already by Sellers on eBay) while others still have the additional Digital Copy disc.I am trying to go for Blu-ray & DVD without Digital Copy, because if Digital Copy and the code that comes with it is already redeemed then to me its no good especially when you're only going to use it once. Though the Digital HD codes are helpful because it means I can buy Disney movies that are part of the Disney Movie Rewards program etc. So this movie is overall a good buy.Read full review...
