Great cult classic but...

Wonderful movie! Cult classic! Just wish it was of a higher quality copy. Guess I’m spoiled with Blue Ray and other versions of movies today. I had a blue ray version this classic, and it was better to watch than the original but still pretty low quality image. A surf classic

"Endless Summer" thrilled us in 1966 with the surfing adventure of two friends who travel to great spots throughout the world. At the given time-1966, the photography techniques were the best of any surf film, helping the film to become an instant classic.

I purchased the DVD to replace my well used VHF tape. I also had the followup, filmed in 1996, in DVD and wished to have a DVD "set". Everyone can enjoy this/these film(s) whether a surfer or not.

I have surfed since I was 14 growing up in Monterey and Santa Cruz areas of CA. My older brother took me to go see this when it came out back in the 60's.I was stationed in Hawaii for 4 years and the surfing spirit flourished in me. It is an awesome surf movie because it was filmed at the time when surfing was really becoming big in the USA. This film really changed my life in a way. It has been years since I had been able to find this movie at the large video rental stores.I bought this as a Xmas gift for my brother who introduced me into the surfing world. This look back into international surfing locations is mandatory film for those interested in global surfing, too bad today this movie isn't shown with more regularity......Read full review...

The Endless Summer....Timeless!

I saw this movie in the local theater as a teenager (I am now 58). My friends & I were surfers, growing up in Galveston, Texas. The movie was so great, we stayed the entire day,watching it about 4 times! Since then, I have watched my VHS copy about 6 times and just bought the DVD. I no longer surf, but this movie is just plain fun to watch and brings back some very fond memories for me. Of all the surfing movies I have seen, Bruce Brown really nailed this one. The Endless Summer (DVD, 2000)

This is a great movie! The narration of Brown is hysterical & would never be allowed in today's world!! It is un-p.c.! It is a story of 2 surfers that travel for 3 months for the best surf - they go to Africa, Australia, Hawaii.. places that have never been surfed before.. but it is not only about surfing - it is a comedy. The first time I watched this... I laughed the whole movie! My husband is the occasional surfer (1 week a year) at the Jersey beach.. so by no means a surfer!!!! I have never surfed.. so that shows you how this movie's audience stretches farther than the targeted surfer.. I recommend this movie to all!!! Fantastic.Read full review...

Endelss Summer has given me memories to last

Why shouldn't you get this movie? honestly if you want to know anything about the past of your sport you must start with Endless Summer. Well, you should go a little further back to the Duke but...this movie had an impact on the surfing lifestyle so big it was never to be the same after its release.
