Great all-purpose phone!

Awesome phone! I've been addicted to it. It was a tremendous update from my G1. Hardware-wise, the Mytouch 4G is much faster than the G1, internal memory is more than enough for all the apps I want, and comes with a generous SD card for my music and videos. The front and back camera also added a lot of new uses for the phone. The phone feels sturdy and it doesn't get bulky even after a gel case. Touch screen is very responsive and screen size is generous. Speaker and headphone jack also make it great for listening to music while on the go. Software wise, Android has come a long way. I wasn't too dependent on data plans while on the G1, but this one makes data plans worthwhile. User interface is much more enjoyable than before while holding its speed. Swype has also made not having a physical keyboard bearable. I practically like this phone more than my laptop! I use it for just about everything, anywhere, at anytime. Only complaint, like most others have mentioned is battery life. With the right battery control apps, I'm averaging 24-36 hrs with moderate use. At least charging only takes 2 hours or so, and then its good for another day.Read full review...

Nice first Android device that doesn't skimp on features.

I bought this phone because it seemed like a good mid-priced and mid-ranged Android phone that also happened to be on the T-mobile network. In addition, it was highly rated for phones of its class. I also wanted something I thought would be a good replacement for my iPod Touch and my regular cell phone.
As it turns out it is more than a match for the iPod. It has a 5mp camera vice a .7mp camera. It has GPS vice none and a replaceable battery by the user.Among other things. It also has a micro SD card slot and while the iPod has built in 32GB storage, about 3GB of which is used for system files. The MyTouch, on the other hand, can use an entire 32GB SD card which can be swapped out if full. Also, the MyTouch is infinitely more customizable.
What I like the least about the MyTouch is its capacity as a phone. Unfortunately my little Motorola flip phone works a lot better. The worst part of the MyTouch phone is the speaker and the volume. At max volume I can barely hear the phone ring and the speaker phone is virtually useless. My wife has a Samsung Intercept and the speaker phone on that is infinitely better. The MyTouch speaker and ring volume is worse in the car but if it is paired with a decent bluetooth device the speaker phone feature can be ignored.
This is my first Android phone so I can't really compare it to any others. I find the Interface quite intuitive but there was a bit of a learning curve in some instances compared to the iPod. If you spend a lot of time on the phone, especially where you find in convenient to use the speaker phone then this is not for you. But, if you are carrying two devices around, one for a phone and one for everything else and you don't use the phone for your business, then this might be just the device for you.

A phone worth the buy!

For my first buy with eBay, I have to say I couldn't have done it with a better product. I love how the phone is easy to use once you get the hang of it. And the design and how thin it is compared to my old phone. Now the phone did come with two barely noticeable scratches, which the seller did mention, but even with that the phone is like brand new. After using it during the holiday weekend to take pictures, listen to music, and message people, I am glad I bought this pruduct. I really think that if you are looking for a phone which has a big enough screen, without it being the size of a brick, and pretty thin even with a protector then the myTouch 4G could be the phone you are looking for.Read full review...

Elegant technology, lightning fast processor, superior display

At first glance, I was struck with the physical appearance of the myTouch 4g. The large 3.8 inch screen is framed with an elegant chrome accent. The painted metal battery cover is easy to remove, however, will probably show wear with age. Overall appearance is excellent.
Call quality on the myTouch 4g has been very good in normal and speaker phone modes. Call are easily placed and the phone had no problems multitasking while in calls. Callers tell me the sound quality from this phone is outstanding.
The phone rocks with the lightning fast 1ghz Snapdragon processor but even that takes the back seat to the Genius Button. The phyiscal Genius Button accesses a voice activated menu for text, email, directions, web searches and more.

Great Smartphone for what you pay today.

Although this phone is obviously dated, and Single Core Processors are a dying breed and struggle to handle the most current apps and games, if you're looking for a cheaper but high quality smartphone with 4G coverage then consider this. This phone does all the basics like a smartphone should. You can make phone calls, text, browse the web, watch youtube and netflix etc. The interface is pretty user friendly and easy to use. I would not recommend this for heavy gaming as this is only a single core and it will lag. It also has a 5mp Camera which still yields great pictures. However the one thing I absolutely love about the camera is that it features tap to focus while in video record mode. Even a lot of the newer android smartphones today lack this option and only support continuous or fixed auto-focus which I despise especially when I want to see more details up close or focus on another object in the background. My only real gripe is that the battery life is not so good. But this can be resolved by carrying a spare or buying an extended life battery. If you are looking for a good starter smartphone or just want all the features of an android without paying $100's of dollars then I highly recommend the HTC Mytouch 4G!Read full review...

Go get it, You won’t regret it.

Compare to any other "REGULAR" cell phone, this is unbelievably convenient. Always connected to world, with “email” to “facebook” to bank account” to “pay bills” (Can’t just type a big emails on smaller keyboard but still). If you don’t like anything i.e “Alarm clock”, “SMS Tones”, “Phone dialer”, “Games”, “Contact groups/setting” etc (many other things, cant mention here everything) . you can just go to “Market” and install anything you like it, For free. Just installed “live Traffic” and plan my route accordingly, works great. Free Navigation system (GPS). I haven’t found anything bad in this phone besides Battery. Its kinda drains little bit faster, but you can install battery boosters for free to improve the battery life.Read full review...

one of the best smartphones out

got this phone a few weeks ago and i must say i'm impressed. it's the fastest phone i have used, it packs more than i really needed in a phone. it's feature rich and easy to use. i use the iphone 4 and other smartphones and i must say they have nothing over the mt4g. the battery life is not gr8 but it's tolerable, then again a phone so powerful you would expect the battery to drain fast cuz you wont be able to put it down for long. you will always be doin something on it, it's like a digital companion, so compelling. i will not try to compare this phone with any other phone cuz once you own this phone you dont really wanna know wots out there. just like with all devices, they do have faults but if you get a good mt4g then you gonna be happy.Read full review...

We own 4 of these phones, they do the job,

Bought it to replace one with a cracked glass.
Pros: Compact size. relatively inexpensive. Can install a 32g sd card for expanded memory.
Cons: Have difficulty with htc sync app, photo quality is not as good as the i-phone, picture duplicates appear in my gallery... perhaps the cause is my lack of expertise on the use of this product. Battery charge life could be better.Read full review...

Speedy, Stunning, and Sleek!

The MyTouch 4G is a very attractive package! The super slim phone packs an impressive amount of RAM and a 1Ghz CPU to run any Android app you can find! This phone also supports bluetooth and tethering so you can take your internet with you wherever you go. This is a very attractive feature as this device is insanely fast on the internet in 4G areas! However, the speed is still exceptional in gprs and egde areas that I have had the misfortune to be in. This powerhouse of speed, precision, and cutting-edge technology is packed into a thin metal and plastic chassis which easily fits in anyone's pocket and hand.

The front-facing camera is always nice when talking to that special someone via yahoo messenger or qik. The 720P video quality the rear-facing camera provides is absolutely impressive with very exceptional quality and decent low-level lighting capabilities. The still camera appears to suffer a little in dark areas and has trouble focusing quickly in these scenarios. However, this camera is still very impressive compared to almost every other phone on the market. In normal conditions, It is nothing less than impressive! My facebook is feeling the warmth of my camera now as I upload images and videos.

All the clickey buttons and the infrared scroll sensor are nothing less than a delight and feel great under your fingertips. The headphones included are of exceptional sound quality and the controls on the wire are easy to use even though I have grown quite use to the iPhone headphones.

The included software was packaged somewhat attractively which I find to be a little ironic being the MyTouch 4G girl looks like a female version of Steve Jobbs from the 80's.. She is very ugly which, between her appearance and the minor quirks I found in T-Mobile's software, encouraged me to try out Cyanogenmod7 which was a nightmare until I got my favorite apps installed. Now, I love the phone more than ever!

One feature to love is the swype keyboard though I hear it is not for everyone. It is stock on these phones, but not in cyanogen which requires a documentationless journey for the right software.

Overall, this phone is wonderful and whether you are a phone hacking android enthusiast like me or just a basic end-user, You will be very pleased with this phone and everything it can do. With a little time in the market and some know-how, the capabilities of this phone are basically unlimited!

Great Phone

The myTouch4G comes with Android 2.2 OS with an HTC Sense user interface. This will give you support for the Exchange email, calendar, and contacts with the widgets and apps that HTC supports like Friend Stream, HTC Sense launcher, HTC weather, myModes, News, Stocks, Peep, etc. Unfortunately, you will not be able to remove some games and apps that come preloaded on the system. Slightly annoying, but not a killer here. If you do not want to use certain apps you can install Launcher Pro and hide the ones you do not wish to see on the application launch screen.

It would be silly not to include the new WiFi Hotspot utility which is similar to the one HTC EVO 4G is sporting. The service costs $15 a month and will allow your MT4G to be a portable WiFi hotspot. You will be able to share a connection with up to five other devices. This is an awesome feature that will have many people willing to shell out the mere $15 a month for the service.

The phone has a price at $199.99 with a $50 rebate as long as you opt for a 2-year contract or extension. Without the contract the phone is $449.99.

The MT4G is a very solid phone that seems to do just about everything you could want it to do. The sound quality is good on the headset as well as the speakerphone. Download speeds are fast, and the service is great in most locations. T-Mobile is doing it right. This phone gets an 8/10 from me.
