PSP Go is good to go

I am an original PSP 1001 (phat) owner and love the Go model. I never liked the 2000 or 3000 series because they felt 'cheap' to me. The PSP slim models were built with a plastic frame where as the original 1000 series was built with a metal frame. Fortunately, although also on a plastic frame, the PSP Go is pretty solid. Keep in mind this is a slider design and therefor there will naturally be a little bit of play but nothing to worry about nor enough to drive you crazy.

So whats great about the PSP Go?
-Small size makes it more portable than other PSP models. It is just slightly larger than an iPod Touch for reference. Or a Palm Pre :)
-Gamepad has been redesigned to be more compact and the buttons feel great.
-'Pause' feature (essentially a save state) allows you to pause a game at any time while you are playing and quit the game. You can resume game play from the xmb.
-PS3 controller support allows you to pair your PSP with your PS3 controller which is great for long gaming sessions where a handheld can be uncomfortable.
-HD and SD TV video out support (additional cable required) which looks surprisingly good and great for long gaming sessions as well.
-Screen looks great!
-Bluetooth
-Built-in microphone
-16gb built-in memory with further expansion available to 32gb

Whats not great?
-High price
-No UMD drive means you only have the option to buy games from the PlayStation Store on the PlayStation Network which usually means you are paying full retail price per game.
-Wireless B. All PSPs have wireless B but I was surprised that Sony didn't throw in wireless G for the PSP Go.

Best hand held system on the market, even better then the Vita.

In my personal opinion this is the best version of the PSP that Sony has made. The best feature to me is the slide out controls. It makes the system more compact and maximizes the screen size. I have no clue why Sony went back to the original design on the Vita with the controls next to the screen. Other then that the only thing I DO NOT like is that you have to download games from the PSN. So you either have to buy a bunch of memory chips, or a couple big ones. The only thing the DS has over the PSP is a built in camera, other then that the PSP blows the DS out of the water. The PSP is a total media center in your pocket: play games, watch movies, listen to music, look at pictures, surf the web, and remotely play your PS3. It is the best portable system on the market. Add a camera and the abillity to make phone calls and you wouldn't need anything else EVER!!!!Read full review...

PSPgo: Digital Entertainment, Perfectly Portable

PSPgo is a great portable system with a huge library of PS1, PSP, and Minis available for download from the Playstation Network. 16gb of internal memory also gives players alot of freedom to bring their digital copy movies, music, and photos on the go.

This system would receive an excellent rating if it weren't for having no UMD support as well as select previous PSP titles still being unavailable through the Playstation Network.

I bought this system as a personal upgrade from the PSP-1000 series model. Having no UMD support is a huge predicament for gamers already faithful to Sony and the PSP system, so if your going to upgrade, be ready to incure the extra costs to re-purchase your game library.

Other than that, it is an excellent system, with sleek design and performance that all true gamers should experience.

Sony PSP GO

This is a great item for people who do not already own a earlier psp model. I am pleased with what it can do but I do have some concerns like will this "downloadable" only emphasis catch on? As of this writing the number of titles available aren't great but given time who knows. I just hope support for this model doesn't go the wayside because it is a decent device to play games and watch videos on. As far as wireless connectivity it has bluetooth and wireless b (really, come on) and has 16 GB internal memory. I wouldn't upgrade to this model if I already owned a earlier psp but who knows some might. Overall I feel this is a 8 out of 10 and as I said before I just hope developers and sony continue to support this device heavily in the up coming months!Read full review...

Not what was expected

The main reason i got this was for the Skype capability for my work(has a built-in microphone). I also expected the psp go to be more entertaining, faster, and better then the previous versions of the psp(1000,1001,2000,3000) but it wasn't. One major improvement was weight and size. It can easily fit in my pocket unlike the other psp's. The screen is crisp and full of colors. The new charger adapter is a plus because it uses a usb cord for the wall adapter and for connecting to PC, mac, printers, and such. Another plus for it is the 14gb internal memory. It is great because you don't have to buy a memory card if you don't have one to start using it. The analog stick and buttons also feel better but the position for the analog stick is awkward and frustrating when playing monster hunter. One negative thing is the wifi. it's still g and sony is retarded for making it with g wifi because downloading games from the PS store takes about 2-3 hours. It took me 3 hours to download monster hunter unite and my internet connection is about 12gb bandwidth. oh and NO UMD SLOT. Major major downfall. What the hell was sony thinking. I got some UMD's i would like to play but cannot now and its frustrating because i paid for them but i can't play them on my psp go. They better make a system where you enter some serial number on the Playstation site and your PS account shows that you own it. It has bluetooth which wasn't surprising considering most devices nowadays are including bluetooth. Bluetooth works fine for speakers and such. The audio jack for this is amazing. It's can plug in a headset, mic, or headphones. Pretty good bundle there. Overall it wasn't what i was expecting but it fits it name, Playstation Portable.Read full review...

No discs play in this unit! Fast downloads though.

If you have UMD discs (PSP games / movies) then don't buy this unit thinking that you can use them or transfer them somehow. I WILL NOT WORK. The games are download via the internet after you buy them from Playstation Network online. There's alot of false statements on the internet about transferring your discs to this unit but it is false. The unit itself is great. Good graphics for something that small and pretty fast. Basically a sleek redo of the PSP3000. Has 16Gb of built in memory and can use the magic gate memory cards mark with an M2 and marked for PSP GO NOT THE STANDARD PSP units that are much bigger.Read full review...

Yes it's a good device

Pro:
Very stylish, feel's good to the touch, the wifi has a good range, battery life it's very good, video quality it's impresive no lags at all and very smooth, about the controls I rather older versions, "I had to pay 80 dollar to get the games included" but overall it's a good deal for the price.

Cons:

The smaller screen vs. Older PSPs it's not the big deal, it matters for me... but not and issue, it looks and feel really delicate I would not recomend this for a kid under 13 years, the speakers are very weak without an earphone, you should choose a very quiet enviroment to hear it

psp go

There is a lot of talk about the psp go around the internet. A lot of gamers seem t be pretty skeptical about it. They want to bash it because its a download only system, as well as other choices that sony made as far as umd transfers. I play alot of video games i own the Wii, Xbox, Playstation3 and Nintendo DS so this thing kinda rounded out my collection. PROS: It is small, smaller that the original PSP (which i owned once) and even the newer DS. No UMD discs, i like this because i hated the flip open beta max style loading of the old psp and i like not having to carry around the games that i might want to play. It has all the features that the other PSP's have. It has a cool slide feature, which usually i am skeptical of, i own an htc G1 and after a while the parts that make the slide open thing work start to wear out but this feels really solid so i dont think it will be an issue on this thing CONS: It is small, yes it is a pro and con, the reason it is also a con is because of my big fingers and the slide open feature, it makes it a bit more difficult to operate the shoulder buttons. I want to be clear that i am still able to operate the system with relative ease, it just isn't what I'm used to. So far after one day of use this is what ive come up with, i will update this if my opinions change.Read full review...

small

lightweight lighter than a cell phone

easy to use and update

high clarity screen

no disks ever again 100% online meaning u dont have to carry around a big case full of games if u like playing different games

huge 16gb hard drive

blue-tooth tech inside allowing for wireless headphones and mics

(cons)

since everything is online u have to buy games exclusively from Sony playstation store and some games may not be available for download

some blue-tooth devices dont link up although this list is very small it still can cus problems with users who have mics or headphones that wont sync up

i would say that its almost useless unless you have a computer to transfer all your music from

sound from the psp fo speakers is not that great but unless your a music junky like me you may not notice but i would still recommend using headphones

(overall)
i love my psp go but i have had to live with the loss of s few of my favorite games on the psp because the are not listed on the PlayStation store however even with that i still wouldn't give my psp go for anything i have everything i need to keep me entertained all in the palm of my hand. i hate waiting and it seems the waiting lines are getting bigger and bigger these day well i have what i call my weapon against boredom the psp go dont know if id make it though the dmv without it
