Very good, but could be better!!

Almost 10 years ago, I purchased an earlier version of these MDR for my hearing impaired Mother who is now 91. I think the only thing I ever have had to do is replace the rechargeable batteries once or twice. She has used these almost every day. Without them, to watch TV with her would honestly be impossible at the volume levels she would need. They are still working!!!
I just bought these to have as a back-up in case the old ones fail. These work very well, but unlike the old ones that charged wirelessly in their cradle, this one requires manually connecting a small jack. NOT BETTER. The old ones were also better because they had no ON/OFF switch, they would simply come on, when the headband was activated by putting them on. Again the new ones are NOT BETTER.
There is also another switch on one of the earpieces, "1CH - 2CH". Another potential problem for Mom.
It's very frustrating sometimes when a manufacturer NAILS IT with a product.....and decides to "improve" it by complicating it. This is the perfect example of that!! They are still the Best choice available. and are a quality product.

No bad for around $20 bucks

The sound quality is decent. Doesn't quite fit completely over "my" ears.

As long as you keep the transmitter away from the major electronics of the TV, it fairly static free.

It has a decent build quality and battery life for the money.

Well worth the money.

Nice headphones but you will probably need to buy cable to hook to your TV

For the price these are good headphones (sound quality is quite good and they are comfortable to wear). The only downside is they only come with one cable type to connect to your tv (a headphone Stereo mini jack). I would say Most new televisions don't have a Stereo mini jack option. Most tv's have a RCA audio output or a digital output. If you have digital output on your tv (like I did) you will need to buy a digital cable and a digital to analog converter (the headphones are analog). Both the digital cable and digital to analog converter cost me about $25 on Ebay.Read full review...

Great features and easy to use, but...

The constant white noise is almost as loud as the program you'll watch/listen to... and god forbid you move an inch, it gets even louder! Our old RCA WHP141's are so much better in that regard! And this is SONY? Sooo disappointed!

However, everything else is good: design, comfort, in-house range, etc. The Sony rechargeable battery pack (included) lasts about 20 hours and can easily be replaced with 2 regular AAA batteries, if needed in a hurry. Also, you can set one base only for multiple headsets, if they are all tuned to the same channel, while the others can be used as charging stations.

Easy installation, if you are already familiar with the process. If not, then you should know that it comess with a 3.5mm jack only, and you'd need a 3.5mm female-to-male audio splitter and a digital-to-anaIog audio converter box along with the digital cable (not included) to make it work, if your connect-to device doesn't have the 3.5mm jack.

Hope this helps!

The sound is pretty decent, for the money it was worth it.

It was inexpensive and a Sony product. When I got it the instructions to get the tv to work wireless with the stereo transmitter needs a stereo mini jack pin plug x2, one red and one white to plug into the back of the tv. Went to Best Buy, no luck. Called Sony and was treated professionally and with great ease. They offered to order the piece I needed and send it to me for free, that was a surprise. Thanks Sony for standing behind your product. Read full review...

Decent Product

Decent weight and size but there is an ever-constant "hiss." You can adjust the volume on set down and up the volume on tv to compensate.. but not the way it should happen

Quality at great price

Headphones ARE better than I expected. However, there has been some static. And when I turn my head or sit in a different place the sounds waxes and wanes. But I am working with it. I still love them. I am on oxygen, and have far too many cords around, the wireless has been great. I try to charge them every other day.Read full review...

A very good product but not for large ears.

sound quality is excellent. The headset is comfortable but the ear muff is too small for my ears. They put pressure on a nerve which becomes painful after about one hour.

Sound not audible through the headphone without an medium sound on the TV unit.

Works as described. The only problem is the sound. The TV sound have to be set to an audible volume, to get a good volume through the headphone.
