A sweet and affordable camera

This Handycam is the bomb for Paranormal Investigations or those nocturnal encounters when you don't want someone to know you are recording them -_o .The built in IR can be enhanced with an external SONY Model HVL-IRM Battery IR Light and an external attachment arm designed for same. You can also buy any off the shelf IR flood light.

Though the 1MP Digital Photo Option is a bit weak there is a caveat to this shortcoming, with the IR option ON you can take IR Photographs (Nightshot night shots). The optional external flash that attaches to the cam will often shorten battery life by 1/3 to 1/2 so best bet is a stand alone flash with it's own battery.

Audio: Audio quality is high when recording video though there is one shortcoming, when recording video you will get a triple click sound every few minutes. This is the hard drives magnetic head writing information to the disk, the sound is in no way loud but can easily be confused with a faint tapping.

The drive stores video information on the disk in individual 1.93GB .mpeg files. Even when recording for long periods of time the maximum file size is 1.93GB.

Battery life depends on battery size and type of use. Only buy real SONY Batteries designed for this family of cams. Buying a generic battery will void the warranty if it damages the cam, not to mention they are un-reliable and unlike a SONY battery you will have no battery life remaining timer show on Cams display. They are also cheaply made with extra parts that are easy to lose.

Awesome product just love it.

I had previously owned one the same exact SR85. Upon receiving The product in the mail I cannot believe that I got all that for so little money. I'm so pleased carrying case alone was well worth the money extra batteries, camera has worked excellent. Daughter plays volleyball and I capture all the moment thanks. I bought a JVC SD camera and this Sony SR85 run circles around Such a Great product. Thanks again.Read full review...
