Great older model HDV camera in a smaller form factor

Excellent camera for working in tight spaces or crowded areas. Due to its size, it is also very good as a JIB mounted camera. Good complement to the larger HVR-HD1000 that we use. It uses the lower resolution 1440 x 1080i HDV, but we find that adequate for what we do. Also the 24p feature allows truly professional looking, film like videos.Read full review...

Great camcorder with the Ninja Star upgrade!

This is an awesome pro camcorder! What I like best is the fact that you can give the camera a new lease on life if you purchase the Atomos Ninja Star recorder! This steps up the video quality to Prores and you could not do this with the camcorder having a HDMI output! Why pay up to $5k for a new camcorder when you can buy this on Ebay for around a grand and get the Ninja Star for around five hundred?Read full review...

Still a great camera if you have an external recorder.

Even though this is ancient by technology standards, it's still relevant for one reason, full HD HDMI out. We use two of these cameras with a switcher in our church and are very happy with the results.Read full review...

Old Skool, but still a player in 2021!

Maybe "Old Skool", but still a very capable camera. Best to use with an external recorder (Atomos), and not depend on the DV tape. Always loved Sony video quality.
