At long last a Sony video camera of poor design and quality

After testing the Sony 200A "DVCAM", it failed so badly in image quality and
operability that I DONATED IT TO A GOODWILL STORE within a week of purchasing one, used, from Ebay. The professional DVCAM format is an excellent tape format which I have used in higher end camcorders. The 200A not only isn't a "professional quality" product, it doesn't meet most currently
expected amateur expectations. The menu controls are extremely awkward and the lens has no back-focus adjustment, so it goes out of focus when the zoom adjustment is used. The later versions have been improved and the high end professional DVCAM's are very good. Sony must have learned a lot from the shortcomings of this product. I wasted my money.Read full review...

Sony camera

I love this camera because of the quality vs price I paid for it. I got it as a gift for my wife. She is having trouble mastering the ins and outs of a camera like this and I am disappointed in that it does not have the picture displayed in the LCD prior to snapping it. Other than that this was a great bargain and together, my wife and I will have a lot of fun learning to use it and enjoying the many pictures she will take of sporting activities with the grand children and some of our adventures as well. Great entry level professional camcorder!

Great entry level professional DV camcorder. Great flexibility with audio inputs. I like the controls on outside versus other menu-driven camcorders. Definitely a step above the rest. Widescreen/16x9 mode works better than expected. Good camera for the money - definitely something that is not yet obsolete and will perform well for years to come under proper care.Read full review...
