A winner in it's category (cameras under 100 dollars)

A great little camera for the price. You can't ask more for a camera under 100 dollars. It's compact, it's easy to use and it's a Sony! The feature I love the most is the sweep panorama... so easy to use.

I bought this for my mother, I know she will only use it for social events, family reunions, and things like that, so this camera is perfect.

The main reason I wouldn't buy this for myself is because of the zoom, 5x optical zoom is not good for my needs. I own a point and shoot canon with 5x optical zoom and it's the main thing I hate about it.

Full-featured With Great Images At A Fantastic Price

The whizzy features do add some value (especially the HDR) but the real question in a point'n'shoot to me is: does it deliver in program mode? Landscape shots in reasonable light give excellent subject/sky balance with sharp contrast. So yeah, for a cheap little camera it's one of the best I've seen. The slightly lower resolution on a 1/2.3 mini-chip probably helps somewhat. I'd drool over a 3 megapixel cmos 1/2.3. It's a real huge bonus that no proprietary cable is required and it will act like USB mass storage. You can offload or charge anywhere with anything.Read full review...

Great low-light photos and video from nice ultra-compact design.

I purchased this camera in seek of a very small form factor camera that would take low-light, relatively high-resolution still photos, as well as be able to record high-definition video if I desired. It measures 3.5"x2.0"x0.75", and weighs about 4oz with battery.

The movie mode is easy to switch into, as well is the sweep-panorama mode, and allows additional stills to be captured during recording. This camera delivers good still photos in both low and bright light, able to use as wide as a f/2.6 aperture and as high as 12800 ISO, together with multi-shot technology to reduce noise on the final photograph. In a room with very minimal light, it can take shots that look like the room has much higher ambient light levels.

You cannot manually set specific settings (A/S/M), but the camera does a very good job of making adequate settings for you quickly for solid consistent quality photos. It does a superb job of taking good pictures from a small package in most general settings, when (if you are a serious photographer) you don't have time or space to use your higher-end equipment, or can just be your primary camera if you are a casual photo taker.

Other features that I come to appreciate on this camera since starting to use more: 1) internal memory. it has a small amount for a few pictures (just 3 at highest 16MP, up to 67 at lowest 0.3MP) just in case you forget your memory card (it takes SD cards with capacities up to 64GB at least, as well as MemoryStick) 2) ergonomics/rounded corners. all edges are nicely rounded for a comfortable stashing without 'cutting' into your leg or clothes 3) all the different intelligent-auto settings to help you match your environment (v.low light, portrait, landscape/snow landscape, to name a few) 4) standard micro-USB PC and charger interface. easy to charge with any computer or 500mA charger. 5) easy quick navigation of menus and playback with scroll wheel and directional interface. 6) LCD. almost forgetting since it is close to being expected, but the LCD screen is a good size, is clear, and does not lack as it does on some other cameras in this class.

On to the things I wish were slightly different: 1) zoom feature. The zoom is very fast to go from 1x to 5x, and as a result, difficult to get precise mid-range zooms. In many cases, either all the way out (1x) or all the way in (5x) will probably be your goal, but sometimes you only want to be zoomed halfway in. In these cases, you are at the mercy of the camera to stop roughly where you want it, and with some practice, you may get good at this, but if you wanted 2.7x instead of 3.0x, you'll have to just go with it. Some light post-production work of cropping out anything unwanted that made it into the edge of your shot is probably the best way to handle this. 2) power button. It is a little too easy to turn on in my opinion (no press-delay). I keep the camera in my laptop bag, and if I have a lot of other stuff in that front pouch with it, through moving around, something may bump the power button and turn the camera on. Although the camera does have auto-off feature you can set the timeout preference on, the biggest problem I see is the lens trying to extend and not being able to, risking damage to the motor over the long run.

I have had my camera for about a month and have been quite happy with it. It delivers great photos when I need something quick and do not or cannot carry/get my dSLR camera.

Wonderful Camera For The Price

I bought this item because I like Sony products, and I have had a Sony camera before and it took good pictures. I haven't found anything I dislike about it so far. I think this camera has great picture quality, and compares as one of the better models. I had a cheaper Cannon Camera, and many of the pictures I took were blurry, and the shutter speed slow. Very rarely to I ever get a blurred picture, and the shutter speed is super fast for capturing moving images, or when you want to catch the shot right now. It's a cool looking, smaller camera. Perfect to take along in your purse etc. to have around for whenever you want it. GREAT CAMERA! :)Read full review...

Great little camera for a novice or for the more experienced.

Great little casmera. This is my second Sony. The Car Zeiss lens is the deal maker for me. Makes great pics and smooth movies.
The Telephoto lens is excellent and the image stabilization is a great feature. Lots of neat features for you to learn if you want to, Or just point and shoot. This camera can grow with your ability and desire to do more with your pictures.Read full review...

Really Impressed

My wife has the Sony WX9 and this camera shares a lot of the features of her camera.. The WX50 does have a smaller display but the picture quality is super. It is small enough that I carry it in my shirt pocket when we go out. I have a Kodak Z981 that I carry for assignments, but the Sony WX50 allows me to have a camera on hand at all times.. Good value and quality.Read full review...

No way to beat it at twice the price!

This is the best point & shoot ever to come to market. Sharp pics, even in low light. Excellent color rendition. An incredible array of useful features, yet easy to use. Even takes good HD movies. The Zeiss lens is better than you'll see on much more expensive cameras. Good battery life. No way to beat it at twice the price.Read full review...

It works!

We needed to replace the power supply for our Bose iPod dock--this one fit the bill. It works just fine, and we are happy with it because, simply, we can now use the sound dock and fill our house with music.Read full review...
