Great point and shoot camera

DSC W-1 is a perfect eBay camera, 5 megapixal, 3x zoom, operates on 2 AA batteries and you can add several different lenses for a variety of needs, telephoto, fish eye, macro plus filters.
This camera is an outstanding value, I've purchased several over the years, the price of the camera plus accessories is a great bargain for those who need a dependable, easy to use, no b.s. camera.
For the tech type DIY folks, every part needed for repairs along with the 'How to manual' is availible on eBay for additional added value.
I purchased the manual, but have never needed to repair any of my purchases.

Great camera, fair price, fast shipping

Great camera. Owned one of these 20 something years ago, loved it, lost it during traveling between my Tenneessee summer home, and Chicago residence somewhere. LOL Originally bought two in the 400-450 dollar price range. Bought one for company use, one for personal use. Love the viewfinder option, as bright sunlight washes out the LCD screen when you often need it most. Other advantage is it does not take a proprietary battery, but operates on easily accessible AA's. Original camera came with a limited 1GB memory stick, which is no longer made, and very difficult to find. That said, Sony makes an adapter for the standard memory stick slot, that takes a standard memory card of your choice. That gave me far more memory than the original at 16GB. You can buy them separately or together as a package. Package deal on Amazon will save ya a few bucks. Only down side to this camera is the battery compartment door, it is delicate, and if you take a lill TLC in pushing it down with the batteries in place under spring pressure, and slide it into the locked position you'll be okay. Man handle it, you'll snap the delicate hinge assembly free from the door, and aggravate yourself, having should have knnown better. Read full review...

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W1 5.1 Megapixel

I bought this same camera years ago, with an underwater housing, telephoto lens and several memory sticks. The screen died, and so it made sense to find a duplicate. The camera is easy to use, fast and takes acceptable U/W pictures. Underwater, the MPEGs turn out really well, with sound! I have tried some other digital cameras, and they take too long to expose, and the subjects blur without a tripod. Especially the Intova from B&H. They should be embarrassed to sell such a thing, and then they do not stand behind the product!Read full review...

Nice camera

I bought one of these cameras 15+ years ago for $400. also got a polarizer for $50...Over the years it got dropped and banged around....battery door....eats batteries...etc. ...so I got this one. I also have a later model Sony and a very very nice Panasonic with multiple lenses that does more stuff than I've learned to do. But I always have this little guy along.Read full review...

Lots of functions, has viewfinder and uses AA batteries.

Although it is a shirt-pocket point and shoot, it has a threaded lens opening to accept optional lenses - both wide angle and telephoto - that significantly enhance the utility of the camera. Most importantly, the camera has a viewfinder for easier picture taking outdoors, especially in bright light. The camera accepts AA batteries and will work well with Alkaline ones although it works much better and takes more photos with NiMh rechargeable AA batteries. Newer point and shoot cameras most often require rechargeable proprietary (and relatively expensive) batteries and very few have a viewfinder. Read full review...

Comfortable camera with fine photos. Can use usual AA batteries.

What I like in this camera. Can use usual AA batteries. Comfortable in hand, you can't touch lens in any way and not too small to hold with care. Bright colors. Manual exposure, aperture and distance are posible.
A weak place of camera is fixing of battery door. But easy can be repaired by glue and piece of plastic. And I forgive this because of great photos.

Ancient but works great as a stand-alone unit with an OPTICAL view.

It is an SLR clicker, but I guess that is a personal issue.
It is old, but I got it because It has an optical viewfinder, and files can be accessed using USB.

One thing: it apparently has no native memory and will not work without a Sony proprietary Memory Stick (not included), which I already had in my junk drawer.Read full review...

Fantastic camera

Razor sharp pictures, uses easy to find AA batteries. Carl Zeiss lens - an excellent value! These cameras take great pictures and have manual controls for creative flexibility if yo want to go beyond simple Program Auto exposure.Read full review...

Love it!

I love it! So easy to use! I was looking for a camera that would actually take decent pics in pitch black without a flash. This camera does the trick with a separate IR light attached to it! Looking forward to taking it on our next investigation!Read full review...
