Perfect little gem

Although outdated (launched in 2015), it still performed extremely well for most photography situation. Superb & detailed image quality, great dynamic range, 4k video, silent shooting, etc. It still can excell many recent cameras. 12 mp is not a problem unless you want to print a door size poster ;). It is more than enough to see it in your screen.

A full frame in a light body with weight less than 500 grams (that's the point using mirrorless) and only 30% of original price (~$700). Nothing can beat this little gem.

Tremendous value

You really can’t beat the value. Images are clean and detailed to ISO 6400 and the form factor is small and light. It’s my secondary body to shoot with. The 1080p HD is excellent with no crop and will shoot clean to 10000 ISO. For todays price I doubt anything else comes close to the image quality it delivers. Read full review...

Beautiful camera

Great camera,I’ve just begun taking pictures with it in auto. Low light nightfall photos can be made to look like daytime with no graining whatsoever. Battery grip is nice added feature

Pro features at consumer cost

I purchased this camera when it was on sale at Electronics Valley for $2399, and it was honestly a bargain because of the $3000 price tag everywhere else. I have already made two short films with it and I am blown away by its quality and features. I am coming from a Sony NEX-VG900 and Sony a3000 for video, so honestly this purchase was pretty top of the line for me. I have not shot any weddings with it so far, and rightfully so, because there is a lot of setup and a bit of a learning curve with this camera, but I have shot 2 short films which you can see on my YouTube Channel - Just Search (or Google) Relive Time and find it on my channel. It does shoot great 4k, and the SD Card I purchased was only a $27 Sony 64GB Class 10 UHS-1/U3 SDXC up to 94MB/s card. I can also shoot 1080p 120fps slow motion with that SD card as well and that looks beautiful. I did try it with a U1 SD card and it would not let me record at the higher quality rates. The battery life is horrible but as some users state, you can carry an external power pack to keep it up and running or constantly charged from the camera, which I also do. The S-Log 3 is no joke, if you have even the tiny bit of experience with color grading (basic S-Curve), shoot with it! The outcome is amazing. Be careful about shooting S-Log 3 in low light though, or you will run into some noise issues which you can kinda see in my "The Genesis" film, but a little de-noise or over exposure cleans it up well enough, especially if you are shooting at 4k, and it makes for simpler post editing. And I did not have to upgrade my computer either to edit in 4k or Full HD 120fps. I use Sony Vegas Pro 13 and running an i5, 16GB Ram, 240GB SSD, with a GTX 750 Ti and it runs pretty good. If you are considering buying this for professional shoots, then buy it!Read full review...

Image tests are great, looking forward to doing more with it!

I am glad that the difference between the original a7 systems aren't all that changed when it comes to using the a7s, made fiddling around in the menus a smooth and easy experience. I already had a collection of glass to use with the a7s body, so I took some images and posted them for review. I've lost some vision since I original got my first a7 body, but I feel these images are just as crisp (peaking helps a lot)! Read full review...

Great camera

This camera is pretty intuitive to use. It has a full frame sensor. The image quality is good and it shoots, literally, in the dark.

Remarkable camera

I shoot video. The camera is well known for it's low light capabilities, which alone would merit the price. The image quality is excellent, the 4K internal compression is usable in most cases. I do wish I could use more of my glass with it, but the large sensor prevents usage of my vintage cine lenses. The menus are ok, but I've been shooting with this menu system for over a year and still can't remember where certain things are. It's small, light, versatile. If you need to shoot video within the DSLR form factor, look no further.Read full review...

Great for the price.

Before I got this I was using the Panasonic Gh4. That camera was terrible at low light but excelled at everything else, but low light was a huge problem for me always and I never ended up with enough light to get any kind of usable footage out of a lot of the jobs I would do for clients. This A7s changed all of that, it is the perfect all around for me and my business, would recommend any day of the week. Phenomenal image quality on top of all that.Read full review...

Simply amazing!

If you need a low light camera with amazing features, this one has no equal. The video reviewers like to whine about the menu system and record button, but if you have had a Sony dslt in the past, the menus make sense, and the record button works just fine for me. It is pricey for the average user, but for the video professional like myself, it is irreplaceable.Read full review...
