Advertised as FireWire 800. It is compatible. After purchasing additional items it will work with FireWire 800. Those additional items drive up the price for comparison with other items advertising FireWire 800.

It is a nice form factor, easy to setup and use. Quiet.

Back-ups to leave you confident you can restore all your data. EASY!!

This seems to be a really great alternative to other back up systems I have used including Carbonite. I back up over 800GB of photos and a few GB of documents. Carbonite has been working on my back up for over 18 months and they tell me that all of my data will be finished in about 120 days. Lets talk about vulnerability. With the Seagate I plugged it in to my machine, activated the software, and in one evening my photos were back up and now the Seagate software backs up daily. I also installed it on two other machines and now they are back up also.

Considering price vs. value I would say you can't beat this little hard drive. Time will tell if and when I need to restore my photos and documents but I have a lot of confidence in the Seagate company so I don't feel vulnerable.

Big on storage, small on size, looks good, yes this one is awsome!!!

As a truck driver I listen to a lot of audio books be sides writing fiction stories during rest breaks. This external hard drive is small enough to take with my laptop just anywhere, and big enough to store thousands of audio books and all of my fiction stories. If my laptop dies, I plug this into my next pc and start typing or listening again. I like the compactness of this one and it doesn't require it's own power switch: When my laptop turns on the external turns on with it. My old 'Comdata' external hard drive didn't do that. Haven't found a dislike yet. Likes: Compact with huge capacity. Powers up when my laptop turns on,(No extra buttons to push or switches to flip. My documents come up fast from this hard drive. Easy to use

I needed more backup space and the Seagate 2 did that just fine.

Works great as a DVR memory extension for HD program storage!

I bought this drive as a video repository extension for my DVR. I record only in HD, so the DVR's internal drive was not nearly large enough. It works great!
