Love these books. I love the way John Saxon organized his math books. Taught math using this book for many years. Saxon math books were my favorite.

I like it- old school Math!

I looked over this and it looked like great content for any kid wanting to pursue the sciences. I am more of an old school Math person. I don't believe learning all the definitions will get you where you need to go. Quick ship and I like the extra workbook and answer key so I can help my daughter do problems outside the class, they aren't doing in the class. Her class is only using the textbook ( which may be delayed due to COVID ) but a nice product for a homeschooler, advanced Math student or coop math group.Read full review...

Saxon Algebra 1/2

The Saxon program is a great choice for many homeschoolers, especially in the elmentary grades. Many charter schools are using it as well. Basic skills and the new concepts being taught are continually reviewed. The guide helps parent-teachers who want some guidance or teachers who are not confident in math know exactly how to teach the student. I see two major limitations of the program for middle-school and higher levels of math. First, the problems related to a given concept are presented the same way, so when a student sees problems from another book on the exact same concept, it can be confusing when it shouldn't. Second, there are not as many applications/word problems as I think a middle school and higher text should have to help the student understand the math (rather than recognize "the" pattern and know what task should be carried out). Given the benefits of the Saxon program, if you choose it I strongly recommend supplementing with applications problems from another textbook. Also, parent-teachers with students who are strong in math and have done well in Saxon 8/7 should compare the curricula and consider skipping Algebra 1/2 altogether and proceeding to the Algebra 1 text.Read full review...

Love Saxon Math

I have been Homeschooling my 2 children (7th and 8th graders) for 5 years and have used Saxon math from the beginning. Many math lessons require learners to binge and purge information, where Saxon teaches and then the learner continues to work problems for several days/ weeks into the future. My children have excellent test scores in math and are not scared of it in the least! If you use the DIVE CD with the program it makes the learning process (and the teaching process) amazingly easy.Read full review...

Saxon Sets the Standard

Saxon Math is the curriculum of choice for my children. I love the easy to follow lessons and the way the concepts build on each other nicely.

As an elementary school teacher, our school uses Harcourt Math, and I am constantly going back and teaching my class the "Saxon" way of doing things. In their morning seat work, they do Saxon drill sheets. We still use Saxon fact cards. My junior high student uses a Glencoe text at school so she comes home and uses this Saxon book to maintain her straight A's. You can't go wrong with Saxon. Algebra 1/2 & Dive CD Saxon

Son is motivated by the DIVE CD instruction that tells him when to do practice problems with the teacher & independently. Constant review on a lesson by lesson basis which elliminates the need for test review or pre-standardize test prep. Each question has number of lesson next to it so student can go back for instruction if having trouble with a particular topic. Also, back of book has practice problems for each concept taught. Algebra 1/2 Saxon Math Curriculum

The books are in good shape with minor bends and water/coffee marks. They are gently used but in satisfactory condition. We have used Saxon Math for our home school curriculum for the last two years and will continue to do so as the system works well for my children.
