A tough phone for outdoor people

Your children will laugh at you and ask why you spent £60 on such an old fashioned looking phone. Until, that is, you have a bit of fun with a few party tricks like dropping it fully in a tumbler of water and getting someone to phone you; or throwing it across the floor. I do a lot of cycling and hill walking in all weathers and I've lost two smart phones in spite of attempting to keep them dry. This phone is the business if you want to stay in contact in all weathers. It's got internet access but I would say for emergency use only - I live on an island and it's useful to look up ferry times but I really wouldn't use it for hours of trawling the net but then that's not its purpose. Battery life is only 2 days and I had expected a bit more but not bad compared to smart phones. In short,it does what it says it does and for outdoor people and farmers and builders I would highly recommend it particularly as it's way cheaper (on E Bay) than the competition and is pretty easy to use.Read full review...

Great for intended use - rugged outdoors phone, not a street phone.

You don't buy this phone for any other reason than its ruggedness and outdoor credentials. Dependable when you need it most.

Use it on the water without need for a bulky waterproof housing (that might cost as much as this phone!). Menu system is clunky, no wi-fi capability, small screen.

That's why I give it low marks for features, but a high overall mark.

Phone is waterproof, dustproof, drop-proof, the torch is handy, and the microphone is optimised for use outdoors - much less wind noise is picked up. Phone does not float, but it is easy to fit a small float on a lanyard.Read full review...

Excellent phone and unbeatable value for money.

Not being a follower of techno fashion but needing a new phone to replace my ageing Nokia, the battery of which was almost exhausted, I looked hard at what I actually needed.
My phone gets used in a variety of harsh environments so I needed robust. I don't need or use a plethora of functions and features so an i phone would be lost on me. Calls, texts, camera and memo are the things I need the most.
So looked around and discovered tough phones. Soon the Samsung GT B2710 began to show up regularly in searches so I explored it more. Features that captured my attention were, waterproof, dustproof, ruggedised and, it had a torch built in !!
It's camera has twice the pixels of my old Nokia and that always took images that were acceptable to me so this seemed like it could be what I was looking for.
So I looked at prices and found a private seller with a few brand new, unlocked ones at a very favourable price and open to offers. Made my offer, it was accepted, it arrived a few days later.
First impressions good, build quality impressed, this is a phone that seems capable of surviving a few bumps and tumbles.
Features are more than good enough for me, it has a compass and GPS amongst it's app's. Love the torch, for me that is going to be very useful.
Camera is surprisingly good with lots of features. I am amazed how good it is in low light.
Good range of ring tones, contacts can have a ring tone appointed to them so you know how who's calling before looking. The menus can seem a little convoluted until you are familiarised but I am nit picking here ! Google is onboard for those that want to use it. It also has bluetooth which works very well.
Text is easy to use with good screen layout and good keying.
Battery life is staggeringly good, unlike my fashion victim mates iphone5 which can devour a battery in less than a day !!
The Samsung goes on for days even with lots of calling and texting.
For the money I haven't seen a phone that gets near to this and can recommend it most highly.Read full review...

Good robust phone for general use.

Great phone, very robust and easy to use. Bright, good sized screen, good keypad and good navigation. Battery doesn't seem to perform as per spec though.

Simply Samsung, sought and bought.

I bought this phone because I wanted a no nonsense tool to make calls and text only,all other features are a bonus that I might never use, never the less they are still available if needed.
I particularly like it being shock and wet proof to a certain extent.
Before this phone I used a JCB phone, but, that cost £200 when I bought it. This Samsung was around £50, no contest.
When My wife looked the phone over she decided to retire her JCB, so we bought a 2nd Samsung. Same supplier but different method so she could claim the vat back.

A good solid phone that does exactly what you expect of it

I bought this phone because phones generally don't last me very long with my work. This phone is very hard wearing, its definatly water proof and shock proof as i've droped it and it's been under water and still works fine. The battery life is really good it seems to do about a week if charged up fully and it is very simple to use. Theres not that many features on it and it is a bit on the bulky side but if you want a good solid phone that isn't just going to stop working the minute its droped or gets a bit of dirt in the keys then this is definatly worth a look. When ever I need to replace this phone which I expect will be a very long time unless it's lost I will be replacing it with the same model or a newer version.Read full review...

Tough and easy to use

My partner loves it for ease of use,he only needs a basic phone for calls and odd text.He's a farmer and it stands up to his daily use in the water dust and dirt.It's tough and lasts.Battery life is good,can go days without charging even when in daily use.It's not to big.It's been one of the best phones he has had.Read full review...
