Samsung SGH X 427m Cell Phone Review

I bought this phone (SAMSUNG SGH X 427m)for my son to use. He has a history of being hard on cell phones and I just needed a replacement phone for him to use. This is his third phone in a year - the last one was ran over twice by a tractor tire! I loved the fact that this was just a basic phone, easy to use, the price was right and the phone functioned well. It defineitely served our purpose and being able to make the purchase on e-bay and have the phone delivered was a real convenience for me. The phone its self is pretty basic no frills but that is okay - that's all we needed and it seems to function as well as the higher priced phones we have had in the past. I did have to buy a new battery for it as the original battery wouldn't hold charge very long. this was a good deal for an extra/emergency phone replacement.Read full review...

good phone

This is the only phone I use. I'm hard on phones and this one stands up to pretty much. It doesn't have any of the fancy new features, but I don't need a camera on my phone. You can often find reconditioned or used ones for around 20 bucks shipped. I keep a spare or 2 around for when I accidentally get one wet or drop one off the roof etc- just sitch out the sim card and there ya go.

Tough & easy to use

I don't know why these phones take the abuse they do, but I love the way they keep on working. I have 2 'spares' to keep my extra batteries charged (can't just charge a battery without a phone) that I picked up cheap (ebay), just in case my 5 year old beat-up phone quits eventually. My wife's phone (Nokia) died after a year, and I replaced it with one of these 3 years ago. These are fantastic no-frills 'just want to talk' phones.
The very best belt holsters I've found are Fone Gear holsters for small flip phones. They are leather and durable, but don't hold up to abuse as well as the phones. (I still have 6 new ones in reserve - started with 10 [from ebay], and they didn't cost much at all).

Small and Simple Wins Every time!

easy to use...lacks bells and whistles but simplicity more than makes up for it. Excellent battery life since it does not have to support all the excesses of todays cell phones...Love the small size for handy storage in pants pocket.Read full review...

Exceptionally good phone!!

I have gone through four of these X427M's, due to exceptionally rough farm service. I usually keep a spare, ready to go. They work, even when other units don't. I do not understand why this model is so dependable, as compared to others, but who cares.... They work as one would expect. I have a battery charge station where I keep at least three batteries ready to go. I'm in an emergency service position that dictates a dependable phone always ready. And that's what the X427M is highly suited for. Only dislike: daylight screen is not very visible in bright sun.Read full review...

Samsung SGH X427m (AT&T)

This is the only phone I can find that has an external antenna port. I cannot get suitable reception in the area where I live without that feature. It gets as good reception in other areas as other more expensive phones. I have bought two for a friend and two for myself. When someone makes as good a camera phone with an external antenna port I would probably buy it.Read full review...

Dated item

A nice looking phone with a nice screen and keys. The item is dated as it is hard to find batteries. Also the date will not go past 2014!!!

Samsung X427

This is one of the toughest, most water proof phones ever made. I along with several friends still have these phones after 5 years. They've been through the washing machine, they have beat up and beat down and are all still working. I bought this one for my son for when he decides to go mud riding on his ATV.
