Basic phone is all I need

This is basic as basic can be...I pay as you go, using T mobile 1000 minute purchase, which lasts me about a year...that means I'm spending about $8 monthly for phone service that I NEED...no needless yapping sessions and the like, which I find a nuisance anyway. Without a plan, of course, I must furnish my own phone. The phone itself 'seems' a bit flimsier than my previous Nokia, which lasted 4 years. If this one lasts another four, or at least until Armaggedon, that'd be wonderful! I'm thinking it will. By the way, the camera specs don't seem to be better than my previous but the pictures I took look quite good, surprisingly so.Read full review...

Nice, no-frills phone for the money

This phone was very affordable and seems to be pretty durable. I've dropped it a few times with no consequence. Sound quality seems decent. The speakerphone is loud, though people on the other end say my voice sounds distorted. This is definitely a no-frills phone. The ringtone selection is lame, the alarm (which I use every day) is a pain to turn off (it stays in snooze mode, and goes off every five minutes) but other than that, I really like it. I haven't had reception problems or dropped calls. If you are looking for a solid, simple cell phone you should seriously consider this one. Radio Shack has them for $29.Read full review...

A smart phone that's not so smart!

I recently had to purchase a new phone because my old one's screen went out completely. First things I fell in love with once I came upon this phone were the great price, the fact it was touch screen ,and the color ( I love orange )! Glad that I am now able to make and receive calls and texts. The battery life....awesome! I can go days without charging.

Now, the things that suck.....the fact PANDORA does not support this device. That would have been a plus for me because I love my music. Email....why can't I set up my yahoo account? I don't want to log in under the web each time. Esp when it gives you the option of setting up an email account, however, it won't actually allow me to. Also I am unable to upload or locate my pics that are stored on my SIM card I'm using within this device; however, am able to locate my music that was stored on the same card. One more thing, the calendar. Why doesn't it give you the option of creating an event notifying you on certain days each week? Example, Monday, Wednesday, Friday each week should be an option on the calendar not just for alarm.

A smart phone that's not so smart!
I wouldn't label this as a smart phone.
Thanks for reading.

A Lot of Value for a Low Cost Phone

A basic, reliable, no nonsense, durable device... well worth it's inexpensive cost (around $30 bucks).

Pros:
1. Sound quality is loud, clear and consistent on both receiving and outgoing calls.
2. Menu display... while a bit unsophisticated and juvenile looking, it's simple and easy to navigate through.
3. Design is attractive, flat and streamlined and fits very nicely in a pocket or purse.
4. Camera quality is better than average with easy-to-operate controls.
5. It's lightweight... you can almost forget that it's on you if you wear it.

Cons:
1. A bit clumsy to flip open due to its flatness and awkward alignment of the shorter (top) screen portion in relation to the slightly elongated (bottom) keypad portion... but, the use of a bluetooth device overcomes the fumbling.
2. Limited and unimpressive ring tone selection... but, truthfully, I've heard worse and more annoying sounds coming out of many other so called "high-end" cell phones.
3. The fact that it's lightweight... and you forget that you're wearing it... makes it a tad too easy to drop. I attached a long 19" digital camera strap on mine and it gives me something to hold on to and catch before losing grip of the phone... and, it allows me to wear it around my neck if I so choose to.

I bought this cell phone from my local Sam's Club as a quick and cheap emergency replacement for my Sony Ericsson TM-506 (see my 06-20-09 review), which cr@pped out on me 6 months shy of the expiration of my current 2 year T-Mobile contract. I immediately noticed that this is a much better phone than the low price would suggest. Certainly, it's far better than my higher-end p.o.s. Sony Ericsson. Anyway, I'm so impressed with this Samsung T-139 that I just bought another brand new one (as a future back-up) through eBay for about $10 bucks less than the one I purchased from Sam's. I highly recommend the Samsung T-139 for those who want a simple, non-pretentious bare-bones phone at a bargain basement price.

Basic yet simple to program and use with quality pictures.

I bought this for my husband because he cannot understand all the fancy buttons on the newer phones. This phone is very basic yet does just about anything you need. The picture quality is great. The battery life is at least 7 days in use. Easy to read display. Easy to program. Overall, a basic phone and great for anyone that doesn't care about texting or going on the internet.Read full review...

Basic phone for the user that doesn't need features

and just for emergencies or a teen starting with a phone
I would say this phone would be a teen/kid just starting with a phone. The t229 was a good phone, but the friends that had it experienced it shutting down and it had glitches where the front paint would chip and it wasn't even dropped, seriously one still had his in a case, took it off and it had marks, idk why, or if it was because of the hard case or what.

But this phone is tons better. It reduced all of the glitches of the previous model that i and my friends had. It's a much better purchase. You wont be disappointed at all in this phone.

Good Solid Phone

It is simple, gets the job done, and has decent features for twenty five bucks. I am not into the smart phone thing just yet for personal use as I have one for my work number, so I picked this up to replace a older phone. It seems pretty durable too.Read full review...
