Good regular DVD player for viewing old movies

Great for old folks who still watch movies on regular dvds. Since the unit is Samsung brand, the remote also controls my tv, which is the same brand. The unit was shipped on time, well padded, and sealed, with all parts as advertised. I put batteries in the remote, connected the included cables, and everything worked like new.Read full review...

Samsung DVD-1080P7 DVD Player

Love how it enhances picture quailty. The remote is easy to use. Remote is compatable with the the Samsung T.V. Looks good with Samsung TVs, matching styling.

Dislike: make computer enhanced scenes obvious.
Make sure to use HDMI cables, otherwise it defeats the purpose.

We have a HD Samsung TV and wanted it to give the best picture possible without having to spend a lot of money on Blue Ray Technolgy (yet).Read full review...

Review of samsung dvd-180p7dvd player

I purchased a samsung model 1080p7 dvd player and was very pleased with the entire unit. Setup was simple and the features are outstanding. The quality of the picture is excelent, but i have not used the upconvert feature. The remote control is layed-out in a very functional way, but it has a control that will only work with a samsung television. I also found the back panel configuration to be complete enough for many diffrent setups, including digital audio, i am planning to ad to my system at a later date. Samsung DVD 1080P7 DVD Player

I watch ALOT of movies and have gone through a number of DVD players, all different brands. I decided to buy a Samsung DVD Player because I recently bought a Samsung HDTV. I was hoping for less hassel with communication between TV and DVD player. I wasn't disappointed....just plugged it in and I was watching movies. No searching for codes or remote control programming of any kind involved. No switching remotes...i can operate both TV and DVD player with either remote and have complete control. The upconverting is excellent. I used an HDMI cable to hook it up and not only is the picture excellent but the audio as well. I can't think of anything i dislike about it. I like the sharpness that this player displays. I had previously purchased the same model for my den. I loved that one so much that I had to have another one for my retreat. This one shows beautifully. It was a great deal and I am very pleased. Samsung is an exceptional product line. Anynet's auto-detection of video attachments (BluRay, upconvert, etc.) couldn't be easier. The Dealtree firm and its "branches" (Cowboom, 2nd Turn Electronics, Dealtree Tech Store and Best Buy Outlet) all provide outstanding deals on Samsung and other products with exceptional customer service. I'm so pleased with this product & would not purchase any other DVD player

This is the best upscale 1080P DVD. I purchased three over the last few years & all are still working. The best about the 1080P7 is it plays avi format which is the most common files to download off the internet. You can put 4-6 DVD movies on one DVD in avi format 7 still have the quality. You could also place an entire season of your favorite tv show on one DVD in avi format. I'm so pleased with this product & would not purchase any other DVD player on the market.Read full review...

Love it!

I've always hated how watching a dvd in the wide screen mode you would have a large blank strip at the top and bottom of the screen. With the upconverter this area seems to have been greatly reduced.
