Good for the price paid

The fault was mine, in NOT asking if the device came with an owners manual.

I have, also, learned that the "disc drawer" works, best, when a dvd is left IN the drawer, when not in use.

When tray is empty, must push "Open" function up to seven times. When tray contains a disc, works fine.

I will conclude by saying "I got what I paid for." If I wanted better, I should have been prepared to pay MORE.

For the price, a GOOD buy.

Nice features, great with your Samsung LED TV

The communication between tv and BluRay player makes it very easy to use. When switching the TV input to HDMI, the BluRay player turns on automatically. Then controlling it with the TV remote eliminates another remote from my coffee table. Picture quality is great and the HIGH DEFINITION netflix streamming is just like playing a blueray disc. Pandora is another great feature with great music selection.

Cons: Youtube search sucks, because typing in the search box may take a very long time. There are some features that are missing from youtube... like while viewing a video, you can't select "RELATED VIDEOS"... you have to let it finish all the way to see some (vely limitied list) related videos. My phone's youtube feature is easier to use and with more feautres... and it's just a phone. Switching from netflix to Pandora, has a very big volume difference (make sure you keep your finger on the volume button). Also for netflix, they should implement a search feature (eliminating the need of a computer to add movies to the queue).

Overall, it's a great player, and I hope that one of the future upgrades, the youtube software will be changed (more user friendly)...

overall a decent machine

well i got my samsung bdp 1600 this week its my first blu ray and overall i think it is a pretty good machine. it does take a little time to load blu ray disks and to start up. from startup until you can watch the movie maybe takes 5 minutes. if your patient like me thats not that big of a deal. i have read other reviews about the firmware making your unit into a brick or not be able to read the disks. i updated mine with no problem. the only weird thing was when i played normal dvd's it didnt fill my full screen (it did before the update), but there was an easy solution for that. it was go into the video settings and set the video for 16:9 wide. for the price and special features such as netflix and youtube you cant beat it.Read full review...

A good quality player.

This is the second one of the same model that I have ordered. Mainly because of the great quality I found in the first one which is in my living room I ordered one for the bedroom. One of the very nice features is the quick on and loading time. Another feature is its' Netflix (app)lication. I have both of them hooked up to my computer via Ethernet cable and I get great reception. Sometimes, since I hooked up the second player I will get a box on the tv (LCD) screen that will say either that the video signal is incompatible or that the audio signal is incompatible. So far, the only way I have been able to remedy this is to switch off the tv and then back on. Now this could be a glitch in my tv settings which I have not yet fully researched. Other than that I am quite happy with the players and especially the being able to get Netflix. Regular dvds are rendered in nice picture and audio quality. Continuous updates are sent to the player which have been very good so far. I compare this to an earlier top brand model Blu-Ray player in which I had to download to a disk and then insert the disk into that player inorder to get it's updates. I bought these players as refurbished models and so far have not had any problems. The first player I have had for about 7 mos. The second player for about 5 mos. You might want to look at other later models which I did but I opted for the BD-P1590. Happy buying.Read full review...

Good with one major problem

Plays DVD's great, Plays blu-ray's fine if you have a samsung remote, though they do take a while to load. When I purchased this used I figured I would just use my comcast remote. That works for DVD playbsck but not for Bluray playback, Luckily I was able to find my old TV Samsung remote and program my cable, TV, and Blu ray player to it. Great product for the price if your just starting to switch to blu ray.Read full review...

Good all-round Blu-Ray player

Should have known my experience would be positive, since it's a Samsung and they have the second place spot to Sony in HDTV, and arguably the best HD panels in their TV's. The Blu-Ray player has the same features as other pricier Samsung devices, but a cheaper look and feel. The player identified my TV, resolution rate and scan rate automatically to adjust for best picture, and also automatically adjusts 480 line DVD by upconverting to a respectable picture quality. The Youtube/Netflix features work well when wired to the router, but are a little laggy at times with the Samsung wireless USB stick. The front USB port on the device is handy for audio or watching video from an iPod.Read full review...

Completely satisfied

Bought it and love it. So easy to setup with easy onscreen instructions. Was able to remove some premium channels from my cable package cause now I have netflix streaming from my blu-ray for only $9.00 a month. I also can see Youtube videos and listen to Pandora internet radio for free that pays for the cost of the blu-ray since satelite radio cost range from $13.00 a month and up. Amazed by the picture quality of the player and the fact that it makes old DVD movies look great. All in all love the purchase and would buy again in a heartbeat. The only thing I would get in the future is a multiple disc changer feature on my next blu-ray. Since Samsung has come on the scene some years ago, they have had nothing but outstanding products and also provide some of the best phone and online support in the business. Class act company with superior products.Read full review...

Satifaction received for my Samsung BD-P1590 Blu-Ray Player.

This is a very good Blu Ray player for the price that I paid. It plays well, perform precisely with the remote controller that came with the unit. Smooth and very quite at close/open mode. The built in Wi-Fi for streaming of internet video feature is awesome. There are plenty of great performance this player can deliver that it continues to surprise me each time I use the player. I really like this bought item.Read full review...

i would like to go back 3 years and buy a different product.

This blu ray player is a pile of crap. I wish I could get paid for all the time i've spent sitting waiting for the disk to un-freeze or the time i've spent updating and re-updating this piece of crap. every other movie freezes up. family is in front of the tv all set for movie night, then it all falls apart. thank you Samsung! all they have to say is "download the latest update". guess what? I keep downloading the same latest update and it does nothing. why does my player keep reverting to a version before the update anyway? don't buy this junk pile. I wont buy another Samsung product. there are plenty of other brands in all price points, I don't need to even look at another Samsung anything. by the way, ive had this player 3 years too long and this has always been a problem. I am crazy for letting this go on this long. I would give it a 0 if I could.Read full review...
