I read horror stories about this unit having issues with connectivity and functionality.
It was easy to install and hook up to my internet. It may lack some advanced capabilities but if you are looking for scheduling and on-demand activation of recirculation it works just fine.
My first months gas bill was really high. I reset the frequency of the recirculation function (changed the setting to economy from comfort) and set up a schedule with the control R app. I am awaiting my next gas bill to see if this reduced the amount of gas being used. Epic Fail for Android Users!!!

This seems like a great product in theory but as others have mentioned it won't work on anything Android. I have not tested it on an Apple device so not sure if it will work. The last time the developer updated his App on the Google Store was Feb 6, 2017. I barely got it to connect to my Wi-Fi connection but the App kept not responding and I had to keep restarting it. Also if you can get the App to stay on pretty much everything on the screen is grayed out and not functional. Bottom line save your $100 until the Android App is updated, hopefully soon.Read full review

Module Seems Fine, App Questionable on Apple Device

The module was easy to install and works as expected, but have only used a couple of days. Getting the app through the setup process was not easy. Did not work as instructed. Took 4 days to get help from Rinnai. Was successful after looking for and connecting to module through the Settings, WiFi. Will need water heater serial no. and Control-R serial number for the setup.Consider waiting for the next upgrade on the app.Read full review

Must have for a home IOT setup, but wish they would improve the product.

When it works, it is a super luxury and useful item and far superior to the alternatives. It's terribly designed though and isn't 100% reliable. Getting it to work with the latest wifi standards is quite difficult as well.Read full review
