Basic Dual Shaft Radio

if you need a twin shaft radio for an old car/truck without hacking up your dash this works. Two Channels (Shared ground) and power. The Chassis is the ground with a Stud on the rear. However if you need to move the shafts out to fit your dash you will need to make a custom Bezel for it. They didn't allow on the stock bezel to move the shafts. I have a older GM Truck/Van with a wide opening. It was a squeeze to get it to fit but it worked. Radio works good, tuner works good, mp3 with the USB works even with a 32GB PNY USB Flash Stick. It will NOT play music off an ipod or iphone. I didn't expect that out of this radio anyway. For $20 you can't beat it.Read full review...

Not installed-yet

To start, my review is of very limited relevance. I have neither installed nor even tried out the radio. It is attractive in appearance, but seems cheap in construct. It's precisely what you should expect for the modest price. Unless you can find a good, used, old style radio, so you can avoid cutting into your dash, well this is the best, perhaps the only unit you be able to find. For what little money this radio will set you back, , I say, go for it.Read full review...

Quit after 2 days

Easy to install, easy to operate, and sounds better than one would expect from a $20 stereo. But it died inexplicably after 2 days. It still turns on, but only makes noise. The warranty is a joke. You send them the old unit, and for the cost of a new one they ship you a new one.

I expected lousy sound, but I also expected at least a few months of service.

P.O.S. ALERT!! This thing is JUNK!!

I bought this to replace an old Dual AM/FM/ cassette (eating) tape player that was in my '51 Chevy pick up when I bought it. Despite all the bad reviews, I figured it was worth a gamble at 35 bucks, so I bought it. Here is what I found- A) The tuner truly does NOT pick up anything but the closest local radio FM station - (doesn't seem to pick up anything on AM)
B) As others have said, it doesn't stay on 'the' channel, even when it does have adequate signal strength.
C) There is no stereo light to let you know if you're dialed in to the strongest signal, so it's all by ear.
D) Mine has a buzz, or engine whine, that elevates with acceleration, although I have a noise suppressor/capacitor hooked up to my voltage regulator. The old Dual didn't have a bit of trouble with any noise.
E) The speaker wire for each speaker is just that. One wire for each speaker, with a single ground wire for the unit and both speakers, which is the epitome of cheapness, in my book, and possibly the cause of the interference.
F) The tuner dial DOES turn backwards, as I read in so many bad reviews. I could live with that, if it picked up anything and had a decent sound to it.
G) At night, when the unit is 'lit', the only thing visible is the red indicator in a blinding yellow-white horizontal strip. You can't see any of the stations' numbers to tell where you are on the dial (as if it would matter, since it doesn't pick up any stations other than what's closest to the truck)
H) (And this is what I call a biggie) When I moved the "adjustable" knobs out to their extended positions, probably less than 1/8" from their shipped places, there is no way in hell that the knob stems would fit the holes in the face plate any longer. Even if I would have cut them to fit, they are moulded with a higher ring around them that won't allow the really cheap plastic knobs to fit right. Did I mention that the faceplate is the cheapest plastic part that I've ever seen on any auto/truck radio?? It is. I actually used the old faceplate of the Dual, and cut it instead, because it was better quality than this one was. THAT is sad!!! To sum it up, if you actually buy this and think it can't be worse than what you already have, you are mistaken. I remember when Pyle used to be a name that at least was 'good enough' back in the 70's when I was in high school, and some of their stuff was actually pretty good! The only reason I bought this is because I'm waiting to get a $500 vintage style stereo that matches the trucks original but has all modern guts and features. I should have listened to the many, many bad reviews on this, but thought that $35 and free shipping wouldn't be a big loss if it wasn't worth it. But this is beyond a bad radio. It's the worst radio I've ever had, and it's NEW!! The worst part is, I was so sure it would be better than the old Dual that I trimmed the speaker and power wires to prevent under dash clutter, so I can't send it back. What a waste of time. Go out and get a steak dinner and see a show instead of buying this piece of crap. At least you can say you got something nice for your dollars.

Change the Y to an I and you got it.

Wanted a cheap stereo for an old noisy hot rod truck. I at least expected it to work properly, not much more than that for the price. It doesn't work properly. When you turn it on, or try to adjust the volume or tone, it makes an awful loud scratchy noise through the speakers. And the sound cuts in and out while adjusting. It's pretty much off or full volume. And hard on the ears on the way to full volume. Twenty bucks, lesson learned. There's inexpensive and just plain cheap.Read full review...

Low buck solution.

SD and USB work great. The radio receiver is not designed very well. The tuner moves too fast to properly tune in an AM station. FM works o.k., but the tuner is still too course. Easy to install and wire. Instructions are clear. Has a nice retro look.Read full review...

It's just ok and that would be it.

The radio is cheap to say the least but so was the price for it, so bottom line for the money I paid I guess can't complain but would spend more money and get a better product. In the end I removed the radio and replaced it with a better one.Read full review...

A surprising value.

You know the old saying, "You get what you pay for"? Well I have to admit my expectations of this car audio system were not set very high. I fully expected a cheaply made, low quality unit, for the price that I paid. To my surprise, this little unit turns out to be a pretty good system and a much better value than I could have imagined. The unit provide very adequate volume and tone quality and I liked the sound that it produced. The USB and SD card inputs work exceptionally well and makes the need for me to plug in a CD player into the RCA jacks totally unnecessary. My only small complaint is that the FM tuner doesn't lock in weaker signals and I sometimes get a little pop or crackle. I like that it has the two post "old school feel" design and it works perfectly in my vintage MG Midget. If you are looking for and inexpensive radio for your old car, this is definitely worth the look.Read full review...

It is probably just fine

Fastest shipping ever! The radio looks fine and probably works as described, I ended up not using it. I bought it hoping I could play through the USB port from an Ipad, but that did not work. Had I read more reviews I'd have known, but for the price it was worth the gamble. I would not hesitate to buy another if I had a use.Read full review...
