Essential upgrade for a Charger 2.0 Damper
I highly recommend this upgrade for anyone running the Charger 2.0 damper. It takes a very mediocre damper and makes it into unbelievably first rate damper. I live in Colorado so I had Push Industries do the modification on my damper. However from watching the videos, I don't think it would be that hard with a long socket extender and the charger bleed syringe being the two things that people might not have.
If you are used to the Charger 2.0 damper, then the initial ride will feel very firm at the suggested settings. I also used a lot less travel on my normal rides. I would suggest riding this setting a few times because while firm, I felt the tire grip and compression response was really good. I am essentially in the middle of the 28 clicks of bot high and low speed compression. There should be plenty of range for him to fine tune it from there.
I have not ridden a charger 2.1 fork. I have heard that the 2.1 addresses a lot of the issues of the 2.0. The HC97 will likely still be an improvement over the 2.1 since it doesn't use shims to valve the compression. If you have a 2.0 and you can do the work, this is the most effective path to get a decent damper since the HC97 kit is about $90 cheaper than a new charger 2.1 RC2.
