Saving Grace for a Vintage National Pressure Canner NO.7
I was fortunate enough to do some research and found that this Pressure Regulator Kit is the New Replacement parts for my National Pressure Canner NO.7. Apparently the Original Style Pressure Regulator Weight Part # 85073 is Obsolete, but oddly enough the Original Style Vent Tube is still available ? This product was very easy to install. I do suggest that you don't discard the Original Style Vent Tube when you remove it from the Pressure Canner Lid, because OCCASIONALLY YOU JUST MIGHT BE FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO FIND AN ORIGINAL PRESSURE REGULATOR WEIGHT ON eBay. After installing the kit I gave it a test run and it seems to be working like new again. This Pressure Regulator Kit is for the Pressure Canners Presto/National Pressure Canner NO.7 manufactured prior to the 1950's, so if you are fortunate enough to have one KEEP IT. IT'S A VINTAGE ITEM. I thought I cannot get this parts of Presto anymore because a lot of pressure cooker surface in the market now, a few brands of pressure cooker with different design, but Presto pressure cooker is reliable and excellent design that will last for years to come. Was going to buy this unit from an on line supplyer and in the process of ordering it, they wanted $70.00 to ship to Alaska and next day delivery would have been over $100.00. Keep in mind an item this small would easily fit into a flat rate box and we do have mail service within the state. So to purchase the same item here with free shipping was a blessing. I installed the pressure gauge and it works perfect. Great to have our pressure cooked back in working order and can again can some salmon.Read full review
